I know you guys have all kinds of secret ways of cutting weight on your hot rods. lets see some of your ideas. This is what i got done to mine this weekend. cut over 2 lbs and kept things functional.

Good Work Young Gun,,,,,,,,,,

But do you know you can buy those units already made out of lightweight hardened plastic.

Cool...

There was a big thread on Moparts about this. Some people really go all out to get as light as possible. Some things that I remember seeing were drilled fasteners or plastic fastners in non critical areas, holes drilled in the top of the rockers directly under the sill plates, custom machined steering column made of lighter materials and painted black.

I looked into titanium fastners for things like fender bolts and non load bearing parts. holly **** that stuff is expensive. $7 for one 5/16 x 1" bolt.

My neighbor had a 68 valiant drag car that had "lightening" holes everywhere. The door hinges looked like swiss cheese full of drill holes. Fenders/hood were fiberglass etc. The rear trunk lid weighed about 50 lbs though.

Wife told me if I lost 100lbs I could go faster! I said no way, I'll just add another 100 cu. in. to the stroker.
