318 comp cam

If you look at the 5 or so builds from 282-477hp they all make about the same torque at 3000 rpm 335-355tq over stock ish 287 tq most don't show dyno # under 3000 rpm except stock ish 2bbl with headers 287 @ 2500 rpm and 292 tq @ 2000 rpm and the 477 hp made 337 tq @ 2500 rpm, I'd say it safe to say every modified engine made more torque/hp from at least 2000 rpm and up. Dyno shows the 318 bottom end Torque ain't as fragile some makeout so you don't have to strangle your engine to make torque but still you want to build a package that focus on 1500-4500 rpm while not snuffing out 4500-5500 rpm.

Better your heads within reason the better the outcome and requiring less cam, for a more streetable package.

Was also thinking 273 heads for the same closed chambers and generous ports.

Might be a little easier to find here as well.

Will keep an eye out for one of those lunati cams. Also heard good things about Hughes whiplash
Its a very high lift cam..that whiplash.

Its going to be head work..

If you want good low/midrange, stay away from Whiplash, Necklash, Dicklash etc cams; they are for a nasty exh sound, the extended exh duration kills bottom end & gives a rough idle.
A single pattern cam will be best for your needs, like a Isky 264 Mega cam.
