318 Head Combustion CC's?

Can anyone tell me the combustion CC sizee for stock heads on a 1969 Satellite with a 318? Looking to get a little more horsepower with a new cam and new heads or rebuilding the old ones. Any experience with the edelbrock small block aluminum heads? Would it be cheaper to mill and rebuild the original heads, any recommendations will be appreciated, thanks!
 
Gears? Are you going to run a converter? Street car? YOu worried about mileage?

I think for most the EB heads are a rip, but thats me, some here swear by them.

The old 675 heads you have should be around 70cc.

Milling isn't as crucial as getting the piston to the top of the bore.

Porting, bowl work, and adding bigger EX valves would help power greatly for a street car that is heavy like yours.
 

Go back to other thread and read the setup we have for a hardtop 68 Coronet 440 with a 318/904 and 2.76 gears. Milling is expensive and if you take too much off the heads you'll have to have special pushrods and you'll need to have the intake milled to port match the heads. Plus if you're pistons are down in the hole it won't matter because piston height is important in compression. Also, choosing the right cam is crucial for building cylinder pressure for your application.
Actually in a heavy car like his it depends on what he wants to do. If he puts larger valves in then he will loose on bottom end and gain on top end if he goes too big of course. Unless he has some 3.55s out back.

Bigger EX valves with the right cam, you will gain torque. Just the EX valve, not the tintake bigger.
