Absoloutely!!! Keep the 318.

I ran a 1968 Cuda Fastback with a 1970 318 +.030" stock bottom end, 8.8:1 flat top forged stock pistons, cast iron rings, MP653 284/.528 solid cam, 587 home ported 360 heads w/ 2.02/1.60 stock valves & MP double springs- milled
.040" on the compression face and .010 on the intake face, Victor 340 intake (port-matched), 750 Holley DP, stock dual point dist.

904 trans w/ 3800 converter, 8.75 rear w/4.86 gears and SS springs... Ran 11.59 @ 115.29 on a 10" tire and 92 unleaded gas.

Thats impressive...
What on earth did you rev the thing out too?
4.86 gears! Must of been a screamer!
How light was your car?
Did it have full interior etc.

;)

Thanks Nemesis!

The car weighed 3200 with 3" exhaust to the diff. and me in it. Full interior (Carpet, two racing buckets, headliner, dash, windows and cranks, steering column, frame connectors welded in ...) I shifted at 6500 and went through the lights at 6500 on 10.5W X 29.0 MT slicks.

I also used the stock boneyard 273 adjustable rockers/pushrods on the heads and a stock drive shaft.

If you want to see more details, see if you can find a copy of the September 1995 SS&DI, there's 6 page feature in it.

MOPAR or NO CAR!
