i have a 340 in a 71 duster , I just timed it and after it warms up a bit as your driving it and when you go from first to second gear it dies , but starts back , , it may do this once or twice then its ok, is it a carb problem or does it need more timing , any thoughts ,it has a larger cam but i do not know what it is, it has a edelbrock carb on it
thanks
kevin

It's an Edelbrock carb, it's a problem. You may have a weak fuel pump, low float level, any multitude of such fuel delivery problems or other carb maladies. It's not timing.

Agree with above. Also if it has an electric choke it might need an adjustment, as in staying closed too long.

I was thinking that maybe the choke was not working. If the intake has not warmed up enough and the choke is not working it would stall until there is enough heat in the intake.
