Is this pin hole supose to be there?

Ran a piece of wire through the bolt hole so you can see where its at on the inside of the block.

I was bolting the block back to my engine lift and this little hole started sprayig WD-40 once the pressure blew the dirt out of it.

anyways my question is... is that a factory hole or is this block shot?
I have asked a couple mopar guys and they didn't know what i was talking about when i tried to describe where the hole was. Which leads me to believe that it was solid and the pressure from the bolt blew it out.

thanks guys :prayer:

Wow;looked like you tried,but it didn't work

What hole are you referring to?

If you are referring to the top pass side camshaft thrust plate bolt, it it used for oiling the timing shaft. There were a few ways that they accomplished this.

1. they had a special camshaft thrust plate bolt with a hole through the middle.

2. They had a bracket that bolted through the other camshaft thrust plate bolts and a tab that was bent into the top passenger side camshaft thrust plate bolt and you leave the bolt out.

3. They just left the bolt out.

If that is not what you were asking I need more explaination to help you.

From the pictures I saw, your block looks fine.

It's nothing to worry about; put sealant(liquid teflon) on the bolts and be happy.

The timing cover has bolts that go into the water jackets. If that is what you mean, they are fine. Put some sealant on the bolts when you bolt it together.

Like they all said. It's fine. You dont even need sealant on it although it might be easier to remove later if you have a need to.

Yep, no big deal. Teflon paste sealer on the bolt will take care of it. I always put sealer on mine even if there's not a problem cause it makes them come out a lot easier.

That bolt hole should be dry , but I might dig around inside the water jacket with a hunk of wire and make sure that core shift or corrosion hasn't turned it into a boat anchor.
It does get close above the coolant port.
If it just got drilled a little deep when they machined the block , it won't hurt anything.
I do like the idea of sealant just because crankcase pressure will take the path of least resistance and it could piddle oil out of there.

360s are all junk. Throw it in the ditch, I'll come pick it up.
