I saw a used 380hp crate engine for sale on Craigslist for about $3500 from memory. I wouldn't mind looking at it. I will try to find it again. The usa is so big that when ever I find something I like it's a million miles away

Thank you. Stock head lift limits?

You can run up to about .550" with a 1.66" spring installed height, after that, you will need to jump up to 1.8" spring installed height. Its more the spring height than the head, until the rocker hits the stud or guide . I would probably do a bit on the guide height if I was playing with more than .535. Depends on what rockers you use too. I think that after .550" lift, the cam will not really make its full potential with the stock heads even ported. I advise my customers that if you plan on more than our stage II cam which has .530" lift then you should probably step up to better heads. Our stage II EQ heads have springs good to .575" although Hughes says .600" with their springs set at 1.66" and .700" for 1.8" height. There are other factors like what will hit before full coil bind, which depends on the parts used.

Maca, please note,"Stage II" refers to the valve spring package that matches our stage II FI roller cam. We do not port heads but can source them if you decide to go for more than a street engine.

Do we get a gold star for better price than Summit or Jegs?

We have rocker packages with MP 1.6 stamped (thicker factory piece) w pushrods, studs, guide plates and roller tips and then a full roller , stud, guide and push rod package. These will be on the site by Monday. We also have some really cool new fabricated valve covers for around MP cast price.

Thanks for clearing that up. In Aussie stage 2 meanest prepped to the next performance level so I wasn't sure.
The main reason I am interested in ported heads is the cam I ran in my last magnum I have seen it being used on forums and they are getting 40hp more than I did. The only difference I can see from my build was I had magnum heads and they had EQ heads. So I am guessing my heads was my limit. I do plan on chasing more HP down the track by bolting on a vortex and thought maybe I should spend the extra money now and put better heads on. I would be very interested in a price on better flowing heads.
Cheers
