haha is there such thing as too many? I get it. I’d probably work to get one done at a time. I appreciate it! Hoping to get it to Reno sometime for Hot August Nights maybe we will see you there?

I have never been. My sister and her husband go every year but last year they came home early. Said it was too hot and they did not enjoy it. Idk. I would like to go one year.

Yeah I’ve heard it’s pretty dang hot and that most people try and make it out in the evening/night time. Definitely will be a test of the cooling system.

Wiring is done and it’s back home! Now to work out the rest of the tune, and correct settings to get everything to work together.

Really sounds great and so nicely done! The cam is pretty close to mine.. mine is 237/249 duration 620/620lLift with a 112 LSA. What mufflers are you running? I've never been happy with mine and I'll probably end up having a new system put on eventually.

Also.. tell me about your oil cooler, if you don't mind. I run a 30 row with a fan along with a aftermarket thermostat, on Hoopty and have never once heard the fan kick on and the gauge shows pretty low temps. I have it mounted (flat) back under the bed, so it's really not even getting direct flow through the fins.. The trans just barely has to work to run that little truck down the road. I've read alot of debates about even running the thermostats because they do tend to fail. ANyway, I'd like to see how you did yours.. such limited room with these A bodys and I already have alot going on up there.. AC condenser and PS cooler. I gotta get away from that condenser somehow...

Well….. 5 steps forward and 10 steps back. There was a miscommunication somewhere between my fan guy and the driveline shop. Yep, dumped the driveline on a road test. It was measured and ordered at 53 3/4” from yoke to yoke, for some reason it was built at that length but from yoke to transmission flange, and with the Sonnax adapter it was about 3” short. Ran it through the gears and it shook for a split second then went boom. Got it off the road as quick as I could but it still beat things up pretty bad. The floor and tunnel got hammered, the exhaust was pushed down into the transmission crossmember and it broke the transmission case up pretty good. It’s been a couple weeks since that happened and I’ve got with both parties and we are getting a replacement driveshaft but that’s all they are helping with. My fab guy is taking care of the rest. I’ll cover the transmission cost. Bummer deal but that’s how things go sometimes.

Thank you, I’m gonna bet your setup will sound quite nice! You went with a FRP cam is that right? The mufflers are Borla xr1’s it’s definitely not quiet.

Yeah the transmission cooler is a derale unit, can’t remember the size. We took the original cooler lines and welded some AN fittings to the tubes and had a short run of flex line to connect. I’m nervous running standard AN fittings on that kind of temp and pressure so I wanted to keep it as short as possible. It’s placed in the drivers front wheel well. I’ll probably throw a temp sensor inline to monitor it but it does still get some airflow through the valance, once the bumper is on I think there’s still probably enough flow through there. I also did the thermostat delete so I’m really not too worried about the temps.

Ahhh man, that sucks! Guess you're gonna need a new seat too.. I can only assume that your butt cheeks, pinched a hole in it. I had a similar experience with hoopty but it sheared the U joint - U bolts. Good thing your exhaust kept the driveshaft from dropping. Hammer that tunnel a little and smear some seam sealer over the top and it'll be good as new with some carpet over it.. Exhaust.. nobody will ever see it. Used 8HPs are pretty reasonable anymore. All just a pita.

Thanks for the cooler info. Gives me some ideas to work with. I ran AN8 from trans to cooler on Hoop. Seems ok, so I'll probably do it again.

Hahaha yes a new seat too. It was definitely sketchy, I was probably rolling upwards of 65+. Yeah I figured we’d just repair the tunnel too. The exhaust we will replace that section of the x pipe and I should be picking up a used transmission for $800 today. Definitely a bummer but I’m over the frustration at this point, just fix it and move on.

Yeah a lot of guys run full length hose I’ve never heard any horror stories so it’s probably just me getting in my head. You’re making nice headway on butters keep it up. I’m excited to see how it turns out!

Omg. . So glad that’s all that happened. Sorry to see this happen. So much time and work into it. So close to being done. Ugh.

Got a replacement transmission Friday, spent a few nights installing glass and door panels. Man pretty disappointed in the fitment on these Legendary door panels. Had the glass tinted while it was out, went with 50% to play it safe and should have gone with 35%. Cleaned up a little wiring, adjusted the wheel bearings, and for the first time in 20 years of owning this car it has a radio for the first time.

Do you do any mods to the 8HP or is it just a factory unit?
Just pulled the pan, took a look inside and fresh filter and fluid. It does have Mopar 1320 model converter, supposedly they stall closer to 2400. I considered a Sipple built hp70 but just not in the budget at this time.

Looks great! Didn’t you have some aluminum door panels before or did I hallucinate that? Lol

I did, they were a little noisy mainly because I didn’t want to use screws around the perimeter of the panel to fasten it so I tried to used magnets bonded to the aluminum, just didn’t work well.
