So I currently have a 67 Dart with a console and buckets with an original Hurst shifter with the huge bends in it (which I like). I'm not saying I'm doing this but if I wanted to remove the console , keep the buckets and put a Hurst Super Shifter with reverse lockout type shifter , I guess my questions would be , do I use the same hole in the floor that I'm currently using? I guess it would be the factory location. Also would that type of straight shifter be too low for my factory bucket seats? Any info helps , Thank you!!

Yes youd use the non console location"4 speed hump" whereas the console shifter handle centers it in the console. The hump is offset left. Im not sure what handle youd use with the buckets. But there are many Hurst handles Im sure you can find one that works.

Thank you for this information. I'm actually looking into an aftermarket Hurst Super Shifter with the red reverse lockout. Again , not 100% sure it's a route I want to go but definitely thinking about it.

Do they make a new Hurst Super Shifter for our application

I have a Swinger 340 with the stock type shifter. I have swapped it out for a E body pistol grip. The Pistol grip is short and throws right under the dash. A concern of mine is punching the radio if my hand slips going for third LOL! but anyway ergonomics and situations like that are what you need to figure out for yourself. Its kind of a "personal fit" thing especially if racing a manual trans.

You'll be able to shift much faster with less flexing once you replace that "winding road" console handle. It's design screams necessity only, due to the console placement. -2 cents

I believe the 70 E body was still the bayonet type when I installed a pistol grip in my first 69 cuda way back in 70.

I lost one radio and 2 knuckles that way .

Here's one similar to my installed pistol grip. Came nowhere near the radio. Matter of fact it was a little shorter than this one.

Curious.........which shifter adapter are you using for that?
none its just bolted to a competition plus shift mechanism same one as the stock handle was. I just swapped it in. It is low like at my knee but its short and not in the way I can ride 3 people up front etc.

I agree!! I've never heard the winding road reference lol , I call it the spaghetti shifter lol. But , all joking aside , I can powershift with it without a problem with it. Want a super shifter though , just wondering if I'll be hunching over with it.

I'm wondering if a B-body adapter might improve the third gear angle of that shifter.

It might if you wanted it more vertical etc. It seems to feel good the way it is ergonomically but I cant see the shift pattern looking down at it etc. I know that would bother some folks. I should add that I cant slide the bench too far forward either or the handle would hit but it works out ok for me .
