ok guys im debating if i want to do big block in my 68 dart, will a big block 4 speed line up with the factory 4 speed hump? also what trans should i look for? thanks alot guys
Yes the hump is the same any a body trans will work but if you plan to put lots of power in it you will want a 18 spline box with an Abody tail housing. Check out this page it has some good info
Ain't a show car, but shows my build start to finish, with some troubles and solutions along the way. Would suggest to read it all, cause I think some suggestions didn't work.
The transmission mount is the 'anchor point' for these cars. It matters not whether you have a 4 speed, 904, or 727, the rear mount / crossmember is the same, and determines engine position.
Man, O ,man are you gonna have fun. No auto can give the rush of the feeling you got the right hole 4 times in a row and under full power no less. Autos are for boys that cant play with there stick...
Four speed needs to have an A-body tail housing and main shaft to fit easily. Others have used B/E four speeds with special brackets for the shifter. I built the A-body 18-spline in my son's Dart using a '68 B-body 18-spline gears and an A-body main shaft and tail housing.
