The Edmund Fitzgerald went down in a hellacious storm on Lake Superior, later immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot...

I was only 12 when it happened and didn't know about it until the song.

I love the song and thought he did a great job conveying the wreck with the eerie tone of the song.

Only 40 Years Ago...I was peeing and crapping wherever I pleased, eating boobies.

My grandmother's friend lost her man on that ship.

"Does anyone know where the love of GOD goes when the waves turn the minute to hours?"- often considered with my 3-4 years of constant sea time/10years on submarines. They constantly make us watch the Loss of the Thresher in the submarine service.

When I was in my mid to late teens I took several trips on lakers very similar to the Edmund Fitzgerald. I recall on one trip we were going through one of the St. Lawrence Seaway locks and that song was playing over some loudspeakers. I had chills up & down my spine despite the hot sun.

Awsome song I had not heard in years, great at many levels, honoring the fallen, good music, and an uncommon song with lyrics that do not repeat themselves. Many thanks for posting from a fellow OC member.

40 years ago...I was negative 7

but I do like the song
(I actually considered posting this same info yesterday, but by the time I figured it out it was almost today already)
