400 builds-anybody?? NON STROKER!

-
Very interested in the EFI results. Using isky ductile rockers and RPM heads.

Anybody built up a 400 that is not a 451 or bigger?

I have a set of Manley 6.965 long rods for sale over on Moparts that are perfect for a stock stroke 400. If you use the 6.965 long rods with common 1.32 high pistons you get a 0.005 deck height in a 400 block. That gives you good quench and a decent compression.

Andy, do you have a set of C body hi P.O. exhaust manifolds for sale? I need em to swap a 400 into the A body. Thanks

Wow! Talk about digging up an old thread! Holy grace robber Batman!
2010!

But I like it!!!!

I grabbed a 400 to build later. Stock stroke will be used. M1 single with a race TQ.
A friend of mine ran 383 crank 400s& he flew in a67 notch on the street.thats with 915s-292 cam.we wanted to build l 4the strip but no one give us permission,l guess it was because 451s are that awesome. I think it would take a couple trys to get the right cam/ cam timing

My non stroker 400 is at the shop right now, gonna be dynoed in about 2 weeks.
750 speed demon
rmp performer intake
stealth heads with adjustable roller rockers
Schneider cam 233 239 496 508
440 trw pistons yielding 10.1
stock bottom end from 76 400
Wish me luck.

Which TRW pistons are you using? are the pistons near Zero deck?? I wanted to do something like that but only found cast pistops 1276 I beleive with 1.91 C.H

This motor was put together originally in 1996 using trw piston L2388f40. The idea is to open the 400 block .0020 and put in 440 pistons .0040 to raise the compression. They are listed on summit as discontinued but I don't know if there is a replacement.
