I sit just me or is Nick seemingly having alot of " engine failure" videos lately...?
Good thing you said that in big uppercase French like that, or I'd have to call the OQLF on you, and then you'd really be in dutch!TABARNAK!
Alright. I believe you. In this p'ticular vid I didn't see or hear him doing or saying anything profoundly and obviously stupid; maybe there's more of that in other vids. I mean, yeah, he ran the engine, but he wasn't the first to do so (otherwise how would cust know to bring it in because it sounded like that?), so as he said, the damage was already done. That engine wants a complete teardown, every piece inspected and measured, and reassembled properly.Watching him dyno stuff is like a toddler with a hand gun. Just does some really stupid stuff. After watching a few there is only so much stupid I can take from guys like him and unc.
Well, there's Glyptal, for one. And I've been first to take apart engines that had factory paint daubs on conrods.a special rod paint, that doesn't come off in oil and heat.![]()
I have another good story pertaining to the title of this thread (Bucket of Bolts).
Ya, but that didn't look like Glyptal and it was like half the rodWell, there's Glyptal, for one. And I've been first to take apart engines that had factory paint daubs on conrods.

Actually he WAS the first to run it. He mentioned having to finish the install and do the initial fire up.Alright. I believe you. But whatever dillweed misassembled it sure did put a real nice paint job on the fuel pump.![]()
Exactly, Nick is always very quick to blame parts or someone else, he said they did the rocker install so the way I see it they probably should have detected an issue then!Actually he WAS the first to run it. He mentioned having to finish the install and do the initial fire up.
He doesn't seem to think beyond what's right in front of him at the moment.Exactly, Nick is always very quick to blame parts or someone else, he said they did the rocker install so the way I see it they probably should have detected an issue then!
Nothing a 318 stock lift cam, a .250 thick head gasket , and running on kerosene can't fixI didn't notice it was a nick video and clicked on it... you're welcome for the accidental click Nick! Just say no!
Maybe the same guy that built this 340 with the pop ups in reversed did this engine.

Yeah seeeee, nick should have set the valve lash at .090..lmaoHe doesn't seem to think beyond what's right in front of him at the moment.
It's definitely something that if you had hand crank the motor you would have felt the interference, the motor would not have spun over without hitting a very very tight spot and then being forced to rotate and then end up stuck in between cylinders, rotating back and forth would have shown this.
This was literally a test, and testament to the incompetence of not only the builder... but the tuner/nick
Anyone who's ever fucked up a timing belt install, knows.
They din't have to; they asked Clarence.Guess they never checked the piston to valve clearance. Probably no other clearances either.
Good Question!Did the motor have hydraulic lifters?
Good Question!
If the lifters have not been pumped full yet, because there was no oil in the motor yet, they would probably not feel anything when installing the rocker assembly and setting the preload.
should've checked with victor too. They din't have to; they asked Clarence.
Nick or one of his employees, probably just primed and maybe only rotated the engine just enough, but not enough to feel anything or maybe just tapped the ignition switch. So really, something that could have easily been missed, but that could happen to anybody. There is the chance that those valves where also just tapping the pistons by a tiny bit and the problem would just worsen when the engine speed is increased. When I install a fresh Mopar SB/BB engine it always gets primed and engine turned over to feed the rockers.
