My 440 oil pan takes a total of 20 1/4" X 20 mounting bolts.
("How To Rebuild Big-Block Mopar Engines" by Don Taylor says there are only supposed to be 18 bolts, but my engine has 20.)
15 of them are 5/8" long, and I am sure that 12 of these go along the sides of the pan. That leaves three 5/8"-long bolts left over.
4 of the remaining bolts are 3/4" long, and it stands to reason that these go in the 4 corners of the pan.
That leaves 4 bolts, two for each end of the pan. One of them is 7/8" long, but I didn't notice which hole this one came out of. There is only one such 7/8"-long bolt.
So my question is, on the 4 end pan bolts, where does the long one go?
Thanks a lot!
