Centerlink grinding on 440 oil pan

-
I just ordered another 893 and pickup as well, if you don't get yours fixed before I do I'll let you know how it fit.
Mine is a 73 with RB conversion from slant 6 spool mounts which is slightly different.
Awesome thank you. I’ll post up how the ole hammer does this weekend.

I had the same issue with my Mancini big block A body oil pan. Had to “adjust” the fit a little with a sledge hammer but it now clears the steering and doesn’t leak.

It sounds like it is most certainly combo sensitive.

71 Duster with 71 SB K member

Schumacher mounts with a little shimming (his look correct IMO)

73+ drag link/idler/pitman

Mancini A body BB pan

Mine clears no problem

It’s always better to find a solution, rather than beat it to death, like I said in a previous post your mounts are about 1/2 as thick as they need to be. I’d try that first

The biscuits he is using are identical to mine, and I have a similar thickness of shims as well. That is not his issue

with regard to heating the pan (pre hammer, lol) after it's installed and damaging the gaskets, you could put some of the heat absorbing putty/paste (cold shield?) between the gasket and the area to be heated.
neil.

I have the same issue with my combo.
Original BB K frame
A body 440 with original bosses
440 Source modified drivers mount (so I can get a new biscuit if it fails)
A 699 oil pan.
It just rubs the corner of the pan, So will massage the pan just a little.
I am using the original 69 center link.
I have the left mount as far down as it can go, and the right mount is shimmed almost a 1/2 inch. Engine is still a slight amount down on the right side. Searching for an alternate taller biscuit so I don't have to shim too high.
Just my 2c

The factory mounts are 1 1/16 to 1 1/8 inch thick. Aftermarket are only an inch thick. Kim

This is what I am dealing with on passenger side. I could use 2 inches total, bottom of biscuit to pad. biscuit here measures 1.25, spacers are 1/2 inch.

Can u loosen the mount bolts and pull it away from the block? Kim
I think a custom bracket to do just that is what is going to be needed. With all the spacers it is only a little tilted, but enough for me to want to fix. My internet searches have come up empty on finding an OEM that looks taller. I don't weld so can't fab my own, but would buy a fabricated bracket if it were available. I have other brackets just like this one so that may be my best option rather than a 2 inch biscuit.

Very normal with that pan. If you run the stock '73-76 link you won't have any clearance issues, but you need a small sector '73-up pitman arm and a '73-76 idler arm to go with it. That will not work with a '67 K-member. You can also massage the pan a bit.

off topic a bit but would a 3/8” - 3/4”engine mount spacer effect pinion angle enough to cause a vibration?

As he already said he didn’t put the factory spacer in. Kim
i realise that. i meant if the pinion angle were far enough off (from spacing the motor mounts) to cause driveshaft vibration he could add a trans' mount spacer to correct it. as an added bonus that would also increase the idler to oil pan clearance too.
neil.

I'm far from the front of this topic, but the oil pan looks like it is from a truck or van, except the drain plug is in the front instead of the rear. I had several vans. They are also 6 qt.
