one small section left i ran out of sheet metal.

Mini tub looks great, just to save some time and welding supplies, you don't have to weld the patches in solid, tacks every inch or so is fine. That's the way ma Mopar did it...

yeah thanks tin but looking at my welding........ i can use the practice hahaha

has anyone heard of how well the fast ez-efi works i saw a segment on horsepower tv were they did a 3g hemi 5.7L and used it. it has a self tuning capability that realy seamed to work on there dyno runs.

looks good man I just finished up my mini tubs last weekend. This weekend I gotta grind down the welds and hit it with some seam sealer, then it's time to start the cage. I'm running right there allong side you. With almost the same car but mine is gold not green. And I gotta replace the same spot on the rear 1/4. Good luck man and can wait to see how it ends up

By the time you buy the carb intake (500-600) and the EFI (1000) you might as well buy the harness and use the factory EFI, JMO...

What ECU are you planing on using tin? dose the factory one have many programing capabilities? Does anyone know if you can use the 6.1L intake on the 5.7L heads?

there are tuning options available if you use a truck ecu, you need an 04 and up computer. Then you can use the diablo or sct. If you run a car ecu you can use any year you want. But you are limited to the diablo.

on the 6.1 manifold it will bolt on just fine. But there will be a port mismatch. That could be fixed if you gasket match the 2 of them. The only problem with the 6.1 manifold is that it's expensive a new one will cost ya about 1400 you can get them used but they run in the 500 to 1000 dollar range. Please ask away I have been messing with the hemi since 03 and am more than willing to help you out.

I was looking at the possible Twin Turbos and saw ur heading the same direction with your build. cant a stock ecm take it? im planing to run about 15psi......What ecu are you looking into?

the stock ecu will do about 7psi. (and that's all I have planned for this motor) because the stock bottom end will not take more than that. I plan on building a boost motor in the future, that will hold up to 25-30 psi. People are saying the hemi block will not hold anything over 1000-1100hp, but I wanna push that up and see about pushing north of 1200hp with the motor once it's done. And if the block ends up with a new drain hole I'll look at sleeveing it. Ok sorry for getting off track the stock ecu will do 7psi IF you have a good tuner to work it out. Then I will be looking to buy anything the tuner is most comfortable with when it comes to big boost. My tuner will only do boosted stuff, and knows how to dial them in so what ever he wants to make it run the best is what he will have. I'm hopeing to end up with a really low 8's high 7's car when the build is done.

What kind of power do you expect to see using 7-8 psi boost? I would like to get 650-750hp at the crank,do you think its posible with 7-8 psi? If i go to a forged rotating assembly and go with larger injectors could the boost go up closer to 10-15psi using the stock ecu?

thanks for the help

as for the 5.7L's durability i can vouch for that. look at the rod a couple pics back.it actualy twisted then bent and broke. I had the crank checked and it was good and actualy didnt even have to do anything with the block other then brush hone it just to freshen up the cross hatches. And this is an all stock engine that was and is back in my truck.

10-15psi will be possible on the stock ecu. Assuming the tuner knows how to set it up. Tuning is everything. 650 should be about dead on for crank hp on a 100% stock motor running 7psi or so. My current motor has ported heads and an aftermarket cam. (as well as all the ram spacific supporting mods)And made 370hp to the wheels in my old truck with about 22-25% driveline loss I'm hopeing to see 650 or more on7psi with this motor. But we won't know until it's running. Keep in mind that the hemi flows so much air compared to a 340/360 ect and boost is a measurement of restriction in the intake tract. You need a bunch more air to make 7psi in a good flowing motor than you do in a poor flowing motor. A stock 5.7 hemi at 7 psi will make the same power as a stock 360 at say 12psi. Because the hemi can injest more air per given intake stroke over the 360 in NA form. So the same is for boost. The volume of air makes power not nessacaraly the impressive boost number

Yes, the new Hemi's Flow GREAT! I believe the stock 5.7 heads Flow like 325 cfm @ 60 lift. that is enough to support 650 NA HP! I want a new Hemi!!! haha.

yeah my truck was pushing close to 650 at the flywheel when I was smacking it with a 150 shot of nitrous. (i was estimating about 550 to the ground) and it would pull a 12.73 @ 105 in the 1/4. It hooked hard and would cut a 1.66 60 ft time. But due to it being a 4 door truck that was 5000 pounds the top end was not in it. I can't wait to see what that motor in a more aero dynamic car and 2000 less pounds will do.

thanks alot for all the great info.I realy like the thoughts of this twin turbo hemi. Keep me posted on the progress with your hemi. I might have to get ahold of you when it comes to tuning my beast haha. But all talk aside heres the latest on the car....finaly finished my mini tub on the pass. side now i have to clean the shop and spin the car around to do the other 1/4panal and mini tub and most likely more rust.

todays progress...........the first two pis are out of order

looks good man. I'll sit down tonight and post up some pics of mine for ya. My problem is that I have several things going at once. The wheel tubs are 99% done, but I might be changing then some. I'm waiting on tires before i finish them. So I can make sure they fit then I'll seam seal everything up. We built the main hoop this weekend and started on the trunk bars. The problem though is that we can't put them in. Gotta keep access to the wheel tubs if we need to cut and weld them again. It looks like it's time to rebuild the front end this coming weekend, since we can't do much else. The bummer part is tires won't be here until the middle of september. I might have to see about installing the motor soon if we run out of other projects.......
