528 Wedge on assembly bench. Season is approaching

This is my low deck 528 at my engine builders place (Tim Bowman) on his assembly bench. Everything is clean and getting assembled as we speak. Should have it back this week and in the car over the weekend. Season is approaching. If weather is good and all goes well, I’d like to hit MIR at the end of the month. We will see. Fingers crossed.

Well it is definitely getting close. The most I could squeeze out of it is 4.25 stroke with 4.500 bore which would put it at 540 cubic inch.

When I bought the car, the engine was a 499. We took the engine to Tim and decided to bore it out from 4.3750 to 4.500, putting us at 528 cubic inch. I’ve considered on many occasions going to the 4.25 stroke and making it a 540, but ultimately decided against it because my engine lives happy as a 528.

I hate to even show the car without the stripes. Thank god my father in law and my wife bought me them for my birthday and had me put them on.

Nice stuff! What is the cam? What does it weight? How fast has it been? I assume it's a 2.25" intake valve?

Thank you! Yes it’s a 2.25 intake valve. It has an R3 cam from Indy. .776/.752 lift with my 1.6 jesel rockers. 285/296 @ .050 and 111 LSA. The new R3 has a 110 LSA but mine is older and is 111.

It’s been as fast as 8.68 @ 153mph
At 2825lbs in 1/4 mile. That was footbraking when we first built the car and put the 528 in.

Since then I have went to delay box top bulb racing it’s been all 1/8 mile and my fastest was 5.530 at 124.45mph.
