I'm taking the Slant 6 and tranny out of my 66 Dart and would like to know best how to proceed.
Thinking that I would want to remove the tranny first I unbolted most of the bolts connecting it to the engine. However there's one bolt on the upper right side that holds the tranny dipstick on that's very difficult to get to. I might be able to fight it and get it off but is it necessary to remove? It looks like it might be helping to connect the tranny to the engine.
The other route would be to put a couple of bolts back in, drop the car, roll it back partway out of the garage, jack it back up, remove the centerlink, and then hoist them both out. Do you remove the tranny crossmember before you unbolt the engine if you're doing this? It is necessary or helpful to remove the oil pan?
The third option would be dropping it out of the bottom but my jacks aren't tall enough for that.
If I was going to remove the centerlink, does it take any special tools?
thanks!
