Just picked this 63' dart 270 for $650 has the slant 6, 833 4 speed, 8 3/4 rear end not sure on gears whoever had it before me was racing it apparently it had a V8. My plan is to make it a street/strip car but options are limited on mopar engines here in alaska I'm thinking of just grabbing a carbed 318 or even swapping a magnum 5.9. What your guys thoughts?

Welcome to the site. Cool ride you got there; very nice score.

Being that an LA motor will just drop in with different mounts, that would be the direction I would go. It's a very simple swap and can be done in a weekend.

If it was mine, I would quickly see about tying the front shock towers to support tubes welded to the firewall and the frame rails.

Looks like even if you left it with the /6, it could be a fun ride with some Clifford stuff as well; 4 barrel intake and header. No matter what you decide, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks that's exactly my plan get an LA motor and get the front end tighten up.
How is clearance for headers once an LA is mounted in?
I still have a lot of research to do that's why I joined this forum I'm new to mopars always been a chevy guy.

Straight axle with a nice 360 is what I want to do with mine but the wife said I was crazy. So all Clifford stuff for me and a turbo. Either way your gonna love it.
