Hi,

I've attached a few pictures of wires on my 65 Barracuda that I can't figuere out. One is by the bulk head and the others are hooked up to the wire that go to the altenator and temp gauge. I've hooked up the alt. and temp gauge wire but on the same line are two more wires that I have no idea where they go.

Thanks for the help:banghead

here is the pic from my 65 Cuda. I have 3 wires under that stud. My car is a factory 4 sp car and I know they are slightly different to auto cars.

The other wires in the harness going to the alternator continue on to the horns, which are mounted on the passenger side of the radiator support on early A's!! Geof

you are also missing the wire from your inhibitor, which will go on the unused terminal

From FSM, this may help. An "inhibitor" must be some new gizmo, never heard of it!:-D Assume you're talking about the neutral safety switch, used only on automatics. Manuals use the same basic relay with this terminal grounded to case. There is an error on this drawing, A1 is not a big 6AWG but rather a little fusible link A1A, see markup.

Still can't tell where the wire goes to?

As stated, goes to the stud on the starter relay, really can't go anywhere else given size, it's A1B on the wiring diagram. You could save yourself a lot of time & confusion by learning how to read these drawings, they tell you everything you could ever want to know on your car's wiring (at least as it was designed).

Keith, someone boogered your fusible link, see comment on A1A wire.

Yea that was me that changed that fusible link, I put a fuse on the inside of the car. That picture was taken 6 or 7 years ago. I have a new link there now. ( well when I get the car going) the car is in body shop jail, it's been there for over a year now, but thanks 396 signet

Thanks, just want to make sure as the wire is black and the end ( smaller)doesnt seem to fit the stud (Bigger). I appreciate everyones help. I'm afraid its the first time I've put a car together having been ripped off by a bodyshop a few years back that gave me back this car in pieces. Doing as much as I can to save money but want to make sure on the electrical.

You need to state your questions clearly. People posted several suggestions. What does "the wire" mean? If you post photos with the wire(s) in question circled, someone can help you. In other words, spend effort so we can help you, otherwise it gets frustrating.

The thick "buss bars" on your firewall connector are marked "ALT" and "BAT" in the schematic. They have the same labels on the connector itself, or maybe "RED" and "BLK" (I forgot). You can get BATT+ (thick red wire) at the starter relay, as shown, preferably via a "fusible link". ALT (thick black wire) goes all the way to the big stud on the alternator, just follow the R6 wire in the diagram (ignore that it is called BATT at the alternator).

Those bus bar feed-thrus keep 63 & 65 cars from melting the bulkhead. Too bad they did do that in all cars.
