65 Barracuda Potential Project

I need the plate at the bottom of the steering column that bolts to the firewall since that's a 4 speed car....but $800 is $780 too much to pay for a parts car for one part! :realcrazy:

That might work if one of them has a good, solid basic structure. Your blue one looks like it has a lot of body cancer...but I can't tell for sure. If the floor, trunk, etc. are rusted out, I wouldn't restore that body.
The body is actually not terrible. It has some old bondo repairs that are starting to flake off and that is what the majority of what looks like cancer.

I decided to pass on the whole car, but I’m trying to get the seller to just sell some parts to me.

I have put a request in with the seller to see about selling me individual parts from the car. If they accept my offer I can grab it for you.

That would be great. 65 Barracudas with a manual transmission are the only A bodies that I know of where the rod from the clutch pedal goes thru that plate at the bottom of the column. I'm swapping my Barracuda from an automatic to a 4 speed and have been gathering parts. I hope you can buy that grill if you need it!

Update on the car

I messaged the seller and informed them that I am going to have to pull my offer. They respond by telling me that their father refused to take anything less than $800 for the car so

So the search continues for a 65 or 66 commando barracuda.

Good call....there's better ones out there to start with.

You guys. $800 is nothing if just the parts. Perfect front grill assy, 68+ 4 speed (if OK inside), HD leaf springs, front sway bar, lower control arms for a sway bar, 7 1/4 rear with Sure Grip?, no Formula S tach in the dash?

No tach. It isn’t an S car. Just happens to have a sway bar. I countedkeafs and it does have 6 leafs but the fendertag doesn’t have the HD suspension selected so maybe someone added this later on in the car life.

I have a $500 offer in with the owner but they want $800.

If anyone is interested in paying $800 for it it’s in madisonville, TN on Facebook marketplace.

Just saying, there is easily $800 worth of unobtainium parts in the deal. No, I don't need any parts or cars. I have been saving the cars I loved and all the best parts since the 70's. I am not a numbers matching guy. If it were me, I'd pick the car with the best body and build exactly what I wanted, just like the factory. I don't care what the fender tag or VIN tag says.

I see you and raise you my Formula S parts collection and what ever non- Commando etc sway bar stuff I've pulled from the early 1970's..........

I'm good. 66 Formula S 4 speed, 68 Formula S 383 automatic Fastback, 67 Barracuda Fastback Auto AC 340 with all the BBP brakes and 73 suspension, plus enough of the Formula S and rare parts to keep them all going for the next 100 years. I'm good.

Sadly I have to much to list..........

Fell ya...only Cudas I've had to send away due to kids breaking the windows out were 2 1964 auto's and one 1964 4 speed. They had got into my farm place where I had about 25 various vechicles stored but didn't live there.....they got caught by my neighbor who heard them for about 30 minutes breaking glass. They got sent to boot camp for a while - got out and came back and set the little house with attached garage on fire....got caught for that as well....loss some good stuff in that garage....mostly all sheet metal. What hurt kinda bad is my hardtop parts car with tinted glass for my 1956 Fury.....and some Studebaker parts cars.

Wow! Hard to imagine...
Actually have video of the aftermath of the broken windows etc - no money as they were white trash - and the neighbor that heard the glass brake also video'd the house burning - it was a little 2 bedroom farm house on acreage I was going to build on - funny he called me and said get over here quick - you can see your house burn ! The kids had bought the brown bottle glue at the dime store is how they got caught - which had video of them buying it - which is what the Fire Dept found around the house - the bottles.....no insurance on the house because it was old and considered a tear down.

There was maybe one they didn't touch - my 1969 Cuda coupe - slant six three on the tree...still drive it around.
