since i sold my mustang a few weeks ago i've been obcessed about finding an old truck. man decent ones for decent prices are hard to find around here.

well i pulled the trigger.. so now i'm an official D100 owner now.its a 65 d100 with a poly 318,727 and a 3:55 8 3/4 rear. drove it 187 miles home. it did well. pretty much outta steam at about 70mph but it drove really nice. couldn't believe how nice it drove. straight as an arrow. i have a few things i want to do to it down the road but nothing major.. its gonna stay looking exactly like it does for the most part ( it has the look i was after). i think i want one of those big go to hell rear bumpers for it though. also going to paint the rims a different color. probably white.. it needs tires too. don't like th elook of whats omn it. too car looking.. need to find a more correct looking tire for it.
man it seemed to get quite a few looks on the turnpike. can't wait to get it out and about on a regular basis

i know nothing about these poly motors.. what kind of timing do these things like? it has HEI in it already. any other recommendations on these motors?

Cool truck. Turquoise is my favorite color for sweptlines. Here's mine.

Great looking sweptline! The patina is just right, but yeah, the tires have to go. Tell me, how does a solid front axle truck like that ride? Is it bone-jarring on the road, or not too bad? I'm strongly covsideribg adding a D100 to the herd, but the front suspension I'm concerned won't be all that nice to drive. Not worried about the lack of power steering, but every old truck I've ever owned has had IFS.

Sweet old truck.
Looks better than average, put new door pins in, they are sagging.
Typical rocker and door rust.
Drove one for a daily driver for years until I wrecked it.
Take one leaf out of the front to get it lower, the pic I posted did not have the leaf out yet.
70 mph is about all the old girls like, I think LA distributor parts fit a poly.

having never driven a straight axle truck before i was expecting it to be harsh and all over the road..

i was surprised as to how straight it drove. ride is a lot better hen i expected too. not that it compares to anything with IFS bit not near as bad as i thought it would be. the manual steering isn't hard to turn either. but you do have to turn the wheel a few more times then something more modern to make a simple turn..

lucily the rockers are solid. what you can see is more surface, looked at a couple that had holes in the rockers. i'll check out the door pins though..

Nice find,Joe...You tried Allpar's site,or check out C.P.P.A's articles on timing....

Congratulations Joe, Love these nice old trucks, the lamp is very cool and gives me an idea .. Enjoy and keep us updated.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to tinkering g with it. Probably get it all legal this week some time. Should be a cool dual purpose toy. Take it to places like a cruise night or Carlisle or hit Home Depot, collect firewood or mulch other days.

Cool truck ! The first thing you should do is disc brakes . I used a sarebird kit on mine . It made a world of difference .

Nice find Joe, hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it.
I learned to drive on a 62 D-200, had a poly and 4 speed with a stake rack.

Nice find Joe, and the lamp is damn cool as well!!! There's thatake truck in a junkyard by me, sitting all alone and untouched, waiting to be rescued!! Should we maybe start a club???

Yea that's in the plans. Probably order the brackets in the next few weeks.

Did you turn down the stock hubs or just buy theirs? I'm leaning towards having mine turned down.
