The original oil pan in my F/S 273 has a rust hole through the bottom and I am looking around for new or used replacements. Most of the used pans i see are pretty beat up and am considering one of the new pans listed on eBay as fitting '64 to '87; 273, 318, 340 engines. They look correct but the drain bolt seems to be a bit lower and at an angle vs the original. Has anyone installed a new pan like this on their early 273? If anyone has a decent pan they want to sell let me know. Thanks, Bob

I've purchased and used the Summit Racing pan and it worked well. Looks just like the Ebay pan. 65'

If you want a used pan, start a wanted thread and members that have parts for sale, start a sale thread. Both of you are going against forum guidelines. Thanks

the one thing I have noticed with the new pans is you will have to put the dent in it on the drivers side for tie rod clearance.

Chryslerfat, Thanks for the input, that's the kind of thing I was concerned about. Rather not have to modify it especially after it's painted and I find the problem when assembling it into the car!

Sorry, I thought it was a Wanted thread. Should have paid more attention to the title

Yes, the 1965 273 pan (and I assume 1964 and perhaps 1966) has an indent on the side to clear the steering linkage at its extreme. Some people just dent the pan to clear. In 1967+, the steering inner tie rods face differently (up or down, forget, plus wider extent), which clears the later pans. I have a spare 1965 oil pan, but too big to ship affordably. PM me next time you drive to South Lake Tahoe. I'm just 2 miles off Hwy 50 off Watt Ave in Sacramento. Give a heads-up since I don't see PM's regularly. $40 since rare and I'd rather hang onto it otherwise to go w/ my spare 273 engine, unless you want to buy that engine too. It was a HiPo, but the pistons were seized and most were messed up in freeing them. If you need other parts, especially outdated stuff, like 1-pot master cylinder, coils, points, I have some new parts I'll never use and would like to offload. I might need to relocate so lightening up would be wise.

Bill, I believe I've found one, thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if things change. Bob
