What do you think? Jan-Mar 2015 Engine Professional Magazine.

400 based 499
MP 509 cam, 248/248 @ .050 114 LSA
OOTB RPM heads
MP stroker windage tray
7 qt Moroso oil pan
Wieand G-Force single plane
10.3:1
Crane 1.5:1 aluminum roller rockers
Meziere Electric water pump
MSD crank trigger and distributor
Holley Terminator EFI

642 LB-FT @ 4,900 RPM and 657 HP @ 5,800

Baddest 509 I've heard of. Published in a magazine too! Gotta be real!

Right?

Wish I had the money to build one to dis prove such builds.
I guess I'll just do it once the right way instead.

Come on you guys! Get out there and start bolting those puppies together!

Electric water pump is good for 150 hp alone....just needs a V-TEC sticker to hit 700.

So what are you guys guessing this should make? 500ish crank?

That has to be the slap happiest dyno I've ever heard of.

Sounds close to mine
440 +.030
12.5 pistons
1.6 rockers
OOTB RPMs
750 Holley that flows 930
My wildest uneducated guess on a good air day with fresh valve springs would be 50 HP less than that.

Since when was the ".509" cam cut on a 114 LSA? Is always thought it was 108LSA? Which is why I've always avoided it like the plaque in lieu of the 284/528/112 cam.

I don't dought it made the power, but OOTB RPM heads? Ummmm, No. They kinda suck OOTB and don't flow anywhere near the 315+ cfm needed to make that kind of power at that rpm for that size engine.

That's a cam with .509 advertised. they would have to have 300cfm at .350 lift to make those kinds of numbers. I don't care who built it or dyno'd it. Put it in a car and run it. Weigh the car. Truth be told.

I think you are all jealous!:burnout:

I always knew those ootb heads from China
would some day really shine.
Must have got the core shift going the right way.

Well that HP is good to hear. I have a .060 over 440, big valves, iron heads, roller rockers, milodon windage tray, miezere water pump, headers, just under 10:1 comp and you guessed it a Doug Herbert 509 lift cam...was trying to find the card, but it is buried in a heap of receipts somewhere. I figure it's good for 600HP then....lol

Right?

The article had a typo 442 TQ 357 hp was not the oil pan it was using the hemi orange paint....

What magazine where can i see the article?

Any time slips to back it up?

Wouldn't matter anyway. Crank horsepower doesn't always translate into ET. I often race a firebird that makes 200 more HP at the wheels than I do and runs 1/2 second slower in the 1/4.

Maybe they were Hensley racing OOTB heads. ;-)

Addition: Apparently there are 2 MPP .509 cams now. One is the original with a 108LSA. The other is a 114LSA.

Yea! The 114 was touted to be the "With better driveabilty" cam. It was offered on several grinds.
