I'd trade, just for the engine, trans and rear end and put them in my 68 fastback!

I've had both as daily drivers (my 383 Charger was a 72'). That Charger looks like a better launching point. Is that yellow primer or oxidized paint?

Those B bodies really look best with some fat rear wheels.

this was already posted on facebook and he decided to keep the Barracuda long time ago.

if it were me, I would do it in an instant ...66 is by far the most homely A-body of all times and that plus they don't hold value and parts are hit and miss.

A charger is the most recognized name in muscle cars and 71-4 chargers are dang cool.

Unlike the Barracuda of 66 ....the 71 charger is actually a muscle car by definition

You just gained 5 cool points

Thats a tough question. Ive had both. Back in the day I had a 73 Charger SE Slightly modified 400 4v. Liked the ride & how it drove. Was fast. Now have 66 Cuda 273 2v that is close to being 100% restored. Not near as fast. Its been both fun & frustrating trying to track down parts for it. Some things my body shop guys had to make from scratch. My wife & I both like to cruise in it because of the rarity of the car . Its a real head turner...esp here in NE Ia. Good Luck & have fun in which ever car you choose to restore.

I would not trade. Not a huge fan of 71 and up chargers. Just my opinion.

I would stick to the 66 barracuda.. Still turns heads even if it's a rust bucket . I see a lot of ppl passing chargers as they walk over to check out early cudas at car shows ..the only b body I would trade for would be an early b body

id trade in a heartbeat
but
that is all would be involved, the heart

if the cuda were a duster, it would be different

even if the colors were swapped, it would be different, but for now, I would take the charger

More pics of the '71 Charger 383. Both rear quarters had body work done to them, the previous owner before the current owner attempted bondo flames.. Maybe. So that's the only real issues body work wise on the Charger, despite the drivers fender & hood. missing grille section is in the trunk, someone had intentions to restore it in the past. Solid floor boards, more of a solid car I think compared to the '66 'Cuda.

Sent a video, starting her up - Hope it's just an ignition related issue, or that it's running cold cause it doesn't sound like all 8 are firing, has factory points ignition as well.

Few more pics of the Cudabarra. Main thing that sucks is someone took an arc welder and 1/8" steel to weld on both front fenders in attempt to fix the common spots that rust out, haven't had the best luck looking for replacement fenders, got so hot by incorrect methods of welding that both fenders don't even sit flush with the hood. Got rear quarter panel rust-out as well.

Video of my '66 'Cuda

That Charger isn't an R/T or even a 500, if it is the Rallye dash, hood, doors and tail lights have been swapped out for the standard pieces. If it's an R/T the VIN will start with "WS", if it's a 500 it'll start with "WP" and standard version starts with "WH" for hardtop or "WL" for a coupe, the coupe has fixed rear windows.

That said, I'd still make the trade.

Stay with the barracuda... Charger nice but you always see chargers. Not to many early barracudas especially the 66. I have a 66 with a hot little 273 4bbl 4speed 8 3/4 sure grip. Very quick & fun to drive. Can't go anywhere without someone giving me compliments. IMO

Yup keep the Cuda and have 20 grand in a car worth 7 grand when done. lol

71 charger isnt worth much more restored.......

As someone who has owned 3 of the 3rd gen chargers, stay with the barracuda. you wont regret it

A bulge hood would bring as much as an early Cuda roller if not more! Lots of good suspension upgrades that are a little easier to get done on the Charger... I love my 72 but I know the history of the car and with 87,000 actual miles and being a factory HP 400 car I had no problem forking over some green even though it was a little rough to start with. 71s have the coolest marker lights. 275-60-15s fit easily in the rear! Lots of E-body parts are useable on the third gen B bodies too.....

yep I would! My daughter is all grown up but lives 1 1/2 hours away and sometimes the wife wants to visit her so I always thought about building a highway Charger with some Nascar influence-you know -15x8 rims ,roll cage, high speed endurance big block with easily obtainable highway gears in an 8 3/4.
throw in an oil cooler,hd engine cooling, etc. Radar detectors front and back maybe paint it flat black........
