Are '66 Dart door hinges the same as the '67+ hinges. Looks like the kit Restorick sells is for '67+, but the hinges on my '66 look identical to those on my '68. Does anyone know what the differences are? Would the kit for the '67+ work on a '66?

So my Valiant were like the 67s. Rick will sell you 4 lower pins to do the uppers if they are like the earlier. There is a section in my 63 and 66 threads. Both used Ricks hardware. Measure what you have and tell him the sizes. If using the lower pins in the upper for the earlier they need to be cut off. Again all in the threads… somewhere.

After looking at these more closely, I'm pretty sure they're identical to the 67+ hinge sets. Any idea what the rubber (?) grommet in the square hole was for? Not sure if that's needed or not. I'll have to dig through your threads to check them out.

Not a grommet just Dum-dub (3M caulking strips) that have hardened. Water seal.

Thanks Jim. I appreciate it! I saw your hinge rebuild photos in your '63 thread. What a great resource! I think you're right though - these seem to be identical to the '67+ versions. I'm just waiting for Rick to confirm so I can pick up one of his refresh kits w/ reamer. I may just pick up two so I can also do the hinges on my '68.

That one was a SOB.

'66 uses a very common lower hinge and fairly common upper one. The upper is '63-6 A-body and '66-70 B-body. The lower is '66-76 A-body, '66-70 B-body, and '72-up D-series pickup, RamCharger, and Trail Duster.

@MoparLeo is the hinge expert around these parts.

It seems like some 66's came with complete '67+ hinge sets (upper and lower). Mine has the bushings in the upper like the '67+ versions. Didn't the earlier ones not have bushings?

Here are some pics of what I see and do when doing a proper rebuild on your hinges. These parts are not sold, only a service.

Thanks guys. I ended up picking up the parts offered by RestoRick and they worked out beautifully for the hinges on my '66 Dart. He even offers the proper reamer for the oversized lower hinge pins, which I also picked up.

The only minor hiccups were that I needed to make a new pin for one of the rollers. No problem though - I just made one out of a bolt from the bolt bin. I also had to build up the spot where the spring rides with weld and dress it down. After that, the hinges turned out great and should last another 56 years.

Rick's stuff is very nice. Sweet.

They are all just as easy if you have the right tools. 62-65 A & B with the roller on the spring require a carbide drill and reamer.
