I found a 66 Dart 225/6 auto trans bench seat. white ext red int. paint is new. Looks to be in very good shape. What is a fair price?

What would you do with it? keep it stock or mod it? How much work to put 360 with 727 and a 83/4 rear in it?

2 door, 4 door, post, GT hardtop???????

$2000 with no rust, everythingelse is bolt in with proper mounts.Brand of hedders is usually TTI for under chassis.

Rust is everything and you are in Michigan. Check thoroughly underneath. If the frame rails or spring perches are rusted thru, it is almost worthless.

In 1966, the K-frame is the same for slant and V-8, but I understand the V-8 steering center-link drops a bit lower to clear the pan. I have a slant and V-8 and that part looks pretty similar. You will need the motor mounts that came with the engine, and I think the later mounts (1973+?) are different with a spool.

You will need to fold in a sheet-metal lip in the trans tunnel for a 727 to clear. An easy hammer job. You will need to shorten the 727's driveshaft since early-A's are shorter wheelbase. Driveline shops can easily do that.

You will need a rare SBP 8-3/4 rear, carry 2 spare tires, or change your front end to 73+ BBP, which many do anyway to get cheap disk brakes.

As many say, a simple job, just keep the shell and change the entire power-train and suspension. I am staying with a slant in my 64 Valiant. Gas is $4.25/gal today in CA.

Its a 2 dr I think it had 270 on the side trim. Owner says it was restored but it was late when I looked at it and nobody was home. I'll check the spring perches and the body for bondo. He's "asking" 6k for it.

Unless it's really nice (nice paint, no rust, good drive train, good interior) that's a
fairly high price. (although you can't buy one and paint and overhaul it for 6 K)
You be the judge. tmm
Snap some photos if you can. tmm

NEXT!
$6K buys a lot of really great '66 Darts and for that much it should be ZERO rust and have all of the stuff you want already done.
I'm thinking $2K also for a nice solid 2 door with a V8.
So you'll probably need to sit this out and wait since nobody will buy it out from under you, might take over a year too.
About 10 years ago I saw a 1970 Chrysler 300 convertible in a parking lot and left a note with my phone number on it. I did get a call and the guy was interested in selling it and told me he had an offer of $16,000! I told him he should take the money... well I saw it at some cars shows with for sale signs for about 2 years. He eventually he sold it for about $4500 (maybe less) and by that time i had bought another car which is too bad for him as I would have offered at least $5000 and maybe even $6000 as I had a 300 convert before and would LOVE to have another.

I paid $6,500 for a rust free CA 65 Dart GT, with a 8 3/4, 318, later 904 and normal drive shaft. Will need painted, as the paint job sucks. Has lots of little dings. As it was literally an old lady's car.

I gave about $3,000 for my 1965 Dart 270 with a slant six. Only one or two little rust spots in the floor.

If it is rust free and had a nice interior I would give maybe $5,000. But I am very very picky!
