OK, my 67 Barracuda was originally a six cylinder with no sway bar. I ran an Addco bar for many years, but one of its mounting brackets broke the ledge off the V8 K member I put in when I switched to a 360. So I got rid of the Addco (sold it to RRR) and swiped the bar off the numbers matching 69 Cuda 383 project car that's sitting in the corner of my garage, that I'll never get back on the road again. I was just wondering how special - if at all - the 383 bar was.

I've already replaced the 67's K frame. Debating whether to return the 383 bar to where it belongs or continue running it on the 67. At least for a while.

My 69 383 bar is 15/16 diameter.

Heck yeah. Still on there too! lol

Mike Martin's book lists the .88 bar as 2462 838 and the .94 dia bar as 2535 533 for 67-69
Now lets see if there is anything in the reprinted assy drawings. I dont recall seeing those in the book.

May be another instance where a single replacement part covers several manufacturing part numbers. Unfortunately Faxon doesn't include the chassis and suspension drawings.

larger bar came with 383 by '68

67 lists2462 838 as the only bar

68 lists 2535 533 as the only bar

69 lists 2535 534 as the only bar.

I see in the literature there was larger bars for 383 so perhaps as mentioned the larger bar became the factory replacement part.

67 sway bar from a real BB K frame 0.87 (no paint) with a metal caliper or just at 56/64" (0.875) with a 30 year old plastic (harbor freight) dial wood workers caliper

No Mention in 67 booklet about sway bar other than it came with packages
Interesting that they give this info in the Dart booklet but not the Barracuda? I guess they knew that Dart drivers were more technologically savvy :poke: :poke:

its only a hundred extra pounds on the front and with stiffer torsion bars and a thicker sway bar I suspect there is little to no difference

And a 340 with A/C, power steering and power brakes has at least as much weight on the front as a 383 w/o any of that.

and if you put aluminum heads on the 383 they weigh the same as a SB with the same accessories

67 Barracuda with the 383 was available before the Dart 383, maybe that's got something to do with it?

Now I feel the need to dig out my swaybar and any sales material I have collected.

It's more like a buck fifty, but that's splittin hairs. It's like ridin a fine lookin 5' 9" woman around. Wait...I got Kitty on the brain. lol

A home built BB A body with no sway bar, whatever T bars, and dead rear springs handles bad.

Then with the drag tires, biggest tire in rear that always rub, and 165-15 VW front tires on 4" wheels.

All that would handle bad with a slant 6.

Biggest bang for my bucks was bigger torsion bars and a rear swaybar.
