I am contemplating having a shop 3D scan my existing hood inserts, and reproduce them as functional hood vents. Currently in a restomod of my 67 fastback and am trying to build the car the designer envisioned before the accountants got hold of it.

Anyone done this before? Already worked out how to reinforce the hood for the holes to be cut, but would be interested in seeing other design ideas.

340S-383S would be more worth dropping cash for this! JMO!
 
Great idea! I think 67 is a perfect fit for it as the inserts are finned and it would look more "natural" for that year.

Here is a picture I took in 2008, I don't have any others, looks like they milled it down keeping the mounting sections solid.
@mvh may have others.

You could mod the 69 Road Runner Air Grabber induction.
 
The studs on mine were long enough that I just lifted them and cut holes in the hood underneath them. I think I got 3/8th inch all round. I think that mathed out to about 30 square inches or more. That was in the early 2000s
