Hair dryer+gasoline fumes=dead forum member. Be damn careful.. kerosene or diesel is a bit safer man. Good luck with the car...Valiants are awesome.

Actually,I use the gas and brass brush first to get the crud off, then spray it off with brake cleaner to get any residue off, then I warm the item with the hair drier to get the moisture out of the metal before I prime it and paint it. It has great results so far. I never take the hair drier to a gas soaked item or use it in an enclosed space full of gas fumes. I R Smarter then that :)

She will be painted next week :)! I went to the nats and all I found was an NOS trunk trim panels and an engine lift plate. There wasn't much valiant stuff to be had there. I'm still looking for a headliner installer in the Chicago area so I can install my glass and interior

Here she is in all her renewed glory.....for now. Time to assemble it all :)

Thanks. There are a few things I'm not happy with though. I don't know how the blaster did it but they bent the area where the trunk torsion rods go,the body guy could have done a better job in the drip rail area...he didn't do it right and missed some spots and he put big gobs of caulk where the inner fender meets the firewall. But all in all it is pretty nice and the fun begins

Took the dash back out and reprayed it,put it all back together and reinstalled it. I found the correct trim paint at auto zone for $8. I did paint the back of the dash white. The body shop called me while I was at work today and they had my trunk, grill surrounds, batt tray, bracket, hood hinges, data tag. I had my buddy Demon Ed stop by to help me slide it on there. I released the tension from the t bars 1st and I was in the garage cleaning bolts and I heard them both pop inside the trunk and the sliders hit the trunk floor. I'm hoping there is no issues. I'll post pics of the other stuff tomorrow. I have 2 sets of hood hinges for my car,1 for the steel hood and 1 for the fiberglass hood (no springs yet).

Wow what a great work you have done! Looking good with that silver paint on the dash. Is that factory paint style?

Keep up the good work!:burnout:

Well, the headliner is in and the front and rear glass installed. I also installed the 340 handeling bars,calipers/brakes,hooked up all brake lines, installed the fuel line, cleaned and primered all of the bolts for the door hinges and fender bolts so the body shop can paint them so I can install the doors. I also installed the trunk lid (still needs adjustment),trim, wheel well trim, most of the wiring, put the spare in the trunk with the cover board. I'll post pics shortly of my progress

I installed the gas tank, filler neck, heater core shut off valve vacume pod, painted and primed some bolts, vacummed the floors/trunk,new filler to trunk floor seal, back seat, more brake line clips, and put the doors on temporarily. I have to drop off the door hinge and fender bolts to be painted to I can fully install the doors, install the glass run for the rear 1/4 glass so I can button that up. I'm still having trouble getting the deck lid to line up correctly. I has too much gap to the right and not enough on the left and there isn't many ways to adkust it. I also have to drop the hood off to be blasted this week too. I should be installing the drivetrain next weekend (fingers crossed).

Dropped off the hood from my parts car to be blasted because someone had used the original as a shelf when it was in storage sometime in it's past.

dropped off the hood from the parts car @ the blaster since the original was dented from being used as a shelf sometime in it's past in storage. Don't use your car as a shelf.

The engine, trans and the TTI headers are all dropped in except the 1 tube. I had to pull the starter off and have to pull the coumn back out to install it and the header tube. I hooked up the driveshaft, trans mount,ps pump and hoses,Kickdown cable kit, carb cable, alt, rear 1/4 glass fuzzies and installed the regulators.

I have to find the right fittings for routing the oil filter relocation hoses, put the engine harness on Hook it all up),electric fan. The factory fan clutch is too thick to use it. I need to add a trans cooler, hook up plug wires, add fluids, prime engine, hook up battery, rad and hoses, fuel lines and mar the air filter location on the bottom of my fiberglass hood so VFN knows where to put the scoop.

still being productive :). I installed the front and rear trim, laid the fiberglass hood on it. I still need to mark it for the scoop and decide on which one to use. I installed the grill and support. I need to pull it back off to spray the radiator support flat black so the grills and emblem stand out. I am leaning strongly toward a 6pak scoop and VFN will make me an insert for the opening in case I get caught in the rain.
