I picked this car up off of Craigslist in CA last year & have been slowly building it that way I want it. I have had at least 15 Valiants over the years & have sold many parts all over the world. I was into Valiants when it wasn't cool to own 1 (lol) & have done quite a bit to help the repop folks making the right parts for the 67-9 2dr sedans & labeling the fitting right.

My 1st car was a 67 Signet 4dr with a 225 I bought off of a car lot for $500 that just wouldn't die & after 7 years of use,350,000 miles, being passed on to a family member & traded back she became a parts car. That car is what caused the addiction I have to this day for 2 Dr Sedan Valiants & mainly the 67.

This car is a 67 Plymouth Valiant Signet 2 Dr sedan white with black bucket interior, a 273 with factory air,7 1/4. It was ordered special in 66 by the original owner & had 2 owners before me. I would have been the the 3rd owner but someone beat me to it,put a bunch of money in it only to repost it back on CL & sell it to me a year later for what he paid for it :). Since I have gotten it a little over a year ago I have changed/updated the following: I swapped out the front suspension for the 73 & up with disc brakes, spool trans mount, added an 8 1/4,added 15" wheels (body color),added stainless brakes lines,3/8 fuel lines & sending unit, added KYB shocks,SS springs. I think you'll like the changes that I've done so far :).

Now for the progression pics :) The front suspension swap. Then I was left with the obvious reminder that I had mismatched bp on the front & rear. (note the blue wheels)

I tried to air up the shocks that the previous owner installed to even out the ride. But the CA heat ate up the rubber & they exploded

Swapping in an 8 1/4 I picked up from a FABO member. This swap required the rear,B Body brakes, shock plates & 108" 904-8 1/4 driveshaft to work right. I also picked up a used set of HD springs here that only rose it to level ride height but it was better than sagging :)

Now for the spring swap. I was lucky enough to find a new pair of SS springs on CL for half the price & now my rear wheels won't rub in the wheel wells anymore when I hit dips in the road. I posted the before & after wheel difference pics. The RH spring is stiffer than the LH & tends to force the LH side down which causes the wheel to grab the lip if I hit a dip while turning. That fix is coming soon enough.

It rose it up about 3". I drove her around all summer then lost oiling to the RH side of the engine for some reason. Testing led to spun a bearing somewhere either on the crank or the cam. (See oil pan pics) :(. But luckily I had a rebuilt 340 on an engine in my buddy Ed's garage. I was going to do this swap over the winter but I'm not good at guessing how long an engine is going to last when I don't know it's history.

The chunks pic is what I shook out of the pic up screen & the oil pan pics are even after I had changed oil 2 or 3 times of driving it.

It is now getting a 72 340 that I had balanced, cam degreed,BP kickdown cable kit, lockup trans with low 1st & 2nd gear with push button lock up control. I am in the process of tearing the car apart to have it blasted & have the engine bay, jambs & trunk painted. The rest of the shell will be in primer until I scrape up the funds to paint it. I want the engine bay done so I can put the engine in before snow falls. See the neat trick I did with the engine craddle & a jack stand to assemble the motor & trans to test fit everything? :)

The rear glass has been leaking for a LONG time hence why they poured rustoleum in the trunk & used a brush. I popped out the front & rear glass & luckily there is no rot. I did notice a possible reason for the leaks, when they tac welded everything the didn't smoothe it out & there were bumps & such. So I am going to smoothe that all out before it gets blasted. I am swapping to the 68 & up style glass with chrome. A member is coming by today to pick up my old glass & gaskets for his project. I am just going to remove the front clip, doors, bumpers, interior & let them do the shell.

I eliminated the rocker chrome because that is the 1st thing to cause rust in the midwestern cars. I also need to have the holes welded closed & a bunch of misc holes the previous owners had drilled in the engine bay. So about 30 holes to fill.

You have dun some great work here and it's great to see how these upgrades can be dun setting on a drive way, Looking great Sedanman. Looking very nize!!

Thanks, but now it's getting cold so I need to move quicker while it's warm at 40 degrees lol. I'm used to working on my cars anywhere I can while I can. I have been know to fix friends cars where ever they break down just to get em going again. I also have coverall's :)

Things are looking good Chuck! I will have to get over there sometime soon and see how it runs. Like I said the other day mine is on a stand still for a while. Trying to figure out which direction I want to take it.

Nice work on the Valiant.

I did like the ride height before the SS springs a little better, that seems to be a personal preference though.

As soon as I get the BBP axels & rear put together I will be selling the complete BBP 8 1/4 set up with 10x2 1/2 brake. It will include the rear with all new lines, new brakes, wheel cyls, shock plates with u bolts & driveshaft with new joints for a 108" wb with 904 & 8 1/4 rear. It will be everything you need except for the drums I need those for the 8 3/4. I may trade too depending. Thanks for the kind words,it took me years to find what I really wanted. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my cars :).... I will be getting rid of some other extra stuff I don't need as I put her together.

Who has the best price & quality on BBP axels with std spline but with factory bearings instead of the green bearings?
