67 twin turbo dart

Timing numbers as low as you have, can have detrimental effects of their own. Ring lands and pistons take a beating because of the heat generated with retarded timing and that heat gets put into the cylinder walls. On race car stuff I see very low timing during spool, on a two step, specifically to get heat in to the turbine to make big turbos spin up.
I’m not telling you to go plug in a bunch of big numbers, I’m saying you need to test and figure out what your combo likes.
Oh I know, I'm not taking it like that no worries, I just appreciate all the help I can get. The dyno place I was going to take it to went out of business, so having to learn all this, I'll take all the info I can get. I'll add in a little more and adjust and see. Even right now she moves on the street, but I know I need to increase timing slowly and find that sweet spot. I know power and turbos come in just before 3500rpm, cam is designed to make power up to 6800 then slowly drop off

So I added just 2 degrees when power is coming in and then took 2* for the first 2 psi and then 1* per psi after that till 10 psi. Thoughts? I know it's a learning curve and but a good starting point? It will be on pump with a gal of race 110 for the track.

20 degrees total at about 10.5psi seems pretty safe to me. I’d really consider running it with the laptop connected and AutoTune on with “easy” cell changes. I did the same thing during my last trip to the track with new injectors and more boost and had the VE table about 99% of the way there after 3 passes. I started out rich and let autotune zero in on the final numbers.

I think that’s a much better starting point.

Okay got 3 runs in yesterday, first one was really bad, but it's okay never ran it on a track also added a gal of 110 to the 5 gal of 91. Foot brake no rpm and 30psi in the radials. 1st pass ran a sad 13.73 @ 106mph, 60' 2.096 . Second pass added 1 more degree of timing and fuel dropped tire psi to 27 and launched at 1k ram 12.5@ 107mph, 60' 1.867, last run added a tad more fuel since it was lean at the top of the 2nd pass, same tire psi did a 12.3 @ 108 launched at 1500, 60' 1.82. All runs were shifted at 5-5500 rpm, that's when its start going lean on the mixture. Cant upload pics each time it says not enough memory. Lots of tuning to come. Tried to data log the last one but forgot to check the damn box to file it. Was still fun, car hooked and went straight, my dad was watching and said the suspension looked good on transfer. Checked plugs today and they were a light black.

how much boost was it running?

I bet once you get the timing sorted it will run a good bit faster. Here's what my timing table looks like. 408ci speedmaster heads 9.5:1 big solid roller cam.

Yeah, I'm almost there, I'm up to 33* and then pulling the 4* per lb to 2 psi and then just 1* per lb and that woke it up too. Might go up to 34 and adjust but need to figure out the fuel up higher, camshaft designed to go to 6800 have some playing room. Next weekend will have my son come with me to a open stretch and autotune it. Just wish I got that data log that last run.

yeah, You'll get it sorted. If you were closer I would help. You can also run VE analyze through the premium version of Megalogviewer as well.. it will analyze and change the fuel tables from the log, not sure if you had done that before.

I wish so too, it's a work in progess. Just glad things got better with each change instead of worse lol. I haven't bought it yet, I have it downloaded and able to watch some logs, but I didnt know that it could do that.

basically.. open the log.. then open the tune file in megalogviewer and it opens extra windows.. it's pretty cool.

Well today was a bust, waited all day for the mopar cup and they forgot about us then we finally got called up, and car went way lean and shut down, which is odd since last night on the run with my brother it was reading 8.8 and all I did was add 1 psi of boost. And it went 23. So loaded up on the trailer and added some fuel. Hopefully get out this week to do a pull, but there are some midnight drags coming up and can do run after run for the class. But did launch at 2g and did a 1.7 60ft with a .198 rt, need to work on that cutting the light.

Well think I'm out for a bit went to start the car today and heard a tick sound so out comes the motor and will see what it is

You pulled the motor for a tic? Just yank the intake off first.

No it wasn't an exhaust leak, sounded like it was from the passenger side, when getting ready to pull the motor found these when un bolting the flex plate, 6 of the 8 bolts are like the top bolt or completely cleared off. Not sure if the flexplate is cracked causing more flex. Hoping that's all it is, it's a 440source sfi one. So not sure, sounded like something hitting.

Funny thing it ran fine at the track, loading and unloading, parked a sat for a bit and then it just started yesterday, first only heard it once or twice with a soft rev, listening to the upper valve train no abnormal sounds, shut it down, double checked the oil level, which was good, oil pressure was 60 due to being cold and dropped down to 40 at idle. Then restarted and happened all time so shut it down and started to pull down.

Were the flex plate bolts themselves loose? That will definitely sound like a knock or tap coming from the inside of the motor.

Nope they were all tight and even used red lock tight on the threads. So that's why I'm pulling the motor to check the block and the plate.
