67 twin turbo dart

I don't know the history of your engine, the machine work performed, or the skill implementing it all. What I will say is we have a small shop and accepted a grenaded(!) GM 6.2 engine job. My cohort is doing the work. After full assembly, it knocked violently shortly after the initial start. Apparently, shrapnel from the original piston exploding issue lodged itself where it wasn't easy to clean, in the intake manifold. It got built a 2nd time. (Not started yet...)

Point I'm trying to make is that small bits of debris from previous disasters may be haunting you now. Something to think about.
Thanks for the input. Machining was done by a top notch shop in socal QMP racing, I assembled it all and checked all clearances. Nothing major has gone wrong with my engine since it was built. Just a bolt working loose on the gear drive and the flex plate bolts rubbing, over all pretty minor things but could have been major.

I'm jes sayin.

I had a rocker hold down bolt snap in the same way yours did what it was i shimmed the rockers to tight & the rocker was binding on the side of the hold down cap causing the bolt to rock slightly with the movement of the rocker arm reshimmed to give some more clearance & put a new bolt all good

Just a update, new adjuster bolt and nut came in yesterday, shipped the push rod down to Manton to replace the one end. Hoping to get it back before next Sunday for the first opener. In the mean time decided to have one grey color on the car. Also cleaned and painted the rear trunk panel.

Push rods showed up today, got it installed and rockers torqued down, pre lash set will start it tomorrow when I get home from work. Neighbor had little kids and they go to sleep about this time. Plus my youngest wanted to play chess with me since hes learning it at school. Cant pass that up. Update more tomorrow.

Started it ran it to temp. Shut it off, adjusted the rockers to spec. Ran it again, no noise. Will run it tomorrow since I get out of work early, traffic sucked getting home today. Looks like everything is oiling good.
Side note has anyone added Oil spray bars to a small block VC? Wondering about adding some for extra insurance just not sure how to make them.

I've thought about making them. -4AN SS bung with a .25" SS tube welded on, drill the VC and weld the bung in, then add some tabs to secure the tube inside the VC. Drill oiling holes to suit. You'd also have to pound flat the end of the tube.

Well double check everything. Good thing I did. The pedestal turned on the one side, so lucky not that damaged from torquing down. Made sure to line that up and and torqued it all down readjusted the the lash. Oil was in the push rod so atleast I know the lifters are doing what they need to do. Made all final check will drive it tomorrow before the test n tune on Sunday.
Man sometimes I wish I went LA heads and shaft oiling over the magnum heads. Just cant afford to swap over, buy the heads and new rockers assembly is a bit out of my price range. Oh well it is what it is.

Test drive went good no noise like before pulled the VC when I got home to check everything and everything was wet so everything is getting oiled. Good to go for tomorrow.

Well to be continued, loading the car on the trailer for today and ended up hitting the flange on the exhaust and bent the hell out of the t clamp. My own fault, I chsnged my receiver to a 5" drop rather then the 4" so it changed the angle and caused issues. So no racing today, need to fix the exhaust and swap the tow balls back. Good times

Drop the exhaust, go racing!

This!

And screw the trailer drive that biotch to the track!!
Lol I would have but it hit hard on the trailer and moved the one pipe over a bit and the car wouldn't go into park lol. Would love to drive it there but not on drag radials.
Exhaust is all done, the the clamps I had on the shelf wouldn't fit the others flanges so I had to cut off all four and reweld it all up.

Well clearanced the trailer and it drives up fine now. Had maybe a fingers width prior to grinding down the middle areas on the trailer. Next race is 5/9 and since i had time and the part upgraded to twin boost solenoids so each turbo has one. Normally with a quick rev would go to just 0 from vaccum now it hit 1psi with a small rev maybe 2500 rpm.

Went to the track last night. First pass 12.112 with a 1.748 60' @109 mph. Second pass 12.05 with the same 1.716 60' at 111 mph . Last pass red lite but ran a 12.009 with a 1.693 60' @ 109.88. Atleast i made it into the 110mph club and got a sticker lol

What’s the tune up in the car now? How much boost? 111 mph isn’t what I’d expect out of that car. You should be seeing up near 140mph in my mind.

If it’s your first time down the track with the car and you’re just getting the feel for it, nothing wrong at all with that. I hoped you logged everything in Megasquirt so you can go back and review.

Its only set at 12 psi and on pump 91. Still running a bit rich at the top end was 10.5 through the trap and only rpm wasnt going over 5k since its was running off with being so rich still.

I didnt just watching everything and making adjustments based on how it was running. Plus im still foot braking and launching at 2500. Need to get used to the transbrake and use that.
