I understand it will reduce voltage to gauges, that's good. price at auto zone was $45!!??? that's bad! if lookin for this part on used stuff, anyone know what years it was used on. ???? I understand 67 was first year, going on 65 dart.

Electronic versions are much better than the original thermo-electric pulsing one. I bought one recently for $25 on ebay. Search "voltage limiter". Most 67 had the rectangular can that plugs in, but if rallye dash (tach), yours is inside the fuel gage.

it makes a difference in year and model. Some where built into the fuel gauge and some where external and mounted to PCB. If built in, you need to at least disable the internal one. AZ's system will show an external voltage limiter for and internal application, which is wrong.

Do the gauges currently work?
Are they pegged?
and if so, how long has it been that way?

A member here has a few of the used mechanical limiters in his For Sale add.

Sorry, I missed where you had 65 Dart. Your voltage limiter is built into the fuel gauge and feeds the temp gauge. amp gauge is separate.

To go with the updated vl you really need to disable (preferably remove) the internal reg. There are tons of info in here on this try searching rallye fuel gauge.
If gauges are dead fuel and temp, they likely need to be rebuilt prior to Vl replacement. Try http://www.demonivr.com/Chrysler Rallye Gauges.html
while this states rallye it is the same set up as you use in your car.
