Anybody know if the bottom windshield trim on a convertible is the same as a hardtop? The bottom only. Thanks

Do you need a bottom trim only? I have a 68 -69 bottom trim I'm not going to use.
Can not say with any certainty that it is Convertible part. (My dad bought it many years ago)

Get me some photos and measurements if it is correct it's yours free just pay shipping

I thought bottom vert trim was mylar/plastic? Similar to 67 cuda, all models?

You must be correct as mine is mylar but its undersized so I thought it was just a piece someone replaced it with. Anybody repopping them? Thanks

We have a 67 fb and 69 vert. I know for 100% certainty that Precision is the only mfg of the factory style mylar for 67. Not sure if the profile for the mylar is the same for 67 FB and 69 vert. Give precision a call.
Let us know what they say.

The mylar piece that goes in the bottom of 67/8/9 vert gasket is shaped different from what goes in 67 model gaskets. Correct piece is reproduced but I forget who/where. Steele? Layson?

I did look on Precisions website last night and they are available for 67-69 but very pricey. Thanks

They are the ONLY mfg. So in their mind maybe that justifies their price lol.
Just dont get fooled by other retailers/mfg claiming to be correct.

What I heard and what I am going to try to do, is to get a B body lower windshield trim piece, trim it to fit and use that when I replace the windshield and seals.

Or use 68/9 barracuda/dart, that's what I'm planning for our 69 cuda vert.

Ok now I'm more confused then ever.

I was under the impression that 67 dart convertible (presume barracuda too) used the Mylar strip but 68-69 convertible used stainless held on with clips.

      Is this not true?

Any chance it had the seal and trim switched to 67 type at some point in it's life?

I highly doubt it. Why would someone go back to that pi$$poor design is beyond me lol. I'll check my parts books in a bit to see what it says.
I'm almost 100% that my 69 vert had mylar bottom and SS everywhere else.

I have a 68 dart convertible, and it had that mylar strip in it

I was going to do the same thing, but I heard the ends of the A body trim would taper off before it gets to the A - piller trim. However, I was not able to confirm that. I do have that trim piece at my parents place ready for my hard top dart, but never tried to lay it on the convertible to see how it looks.

Yep the bottom mylar strip from 67-69 verts are the same. Pics from parts book, that I downloaded for free from mymopar.com
I was told by mopar body shop that the bottom SS trim piece can be easily shortened and used.

Everything I know is a lie!

My faith in humanity has been crushed.

So the lower SS trim would be for HT, post and 4 door?

If you add the 4 or 5 clips and the lower piece of stainless reveal from a 68 and up hardtop you will still need at least a portion of the original mylar strip to lock the gasket. Why b-body is mentioned above is a mystery to me.

You could change to the gasket that does not require the mylar strip then your golden.

and I mentioned the b-body lower windshield trim because that is what I heard would work after it has been trimmed down. The curvature is to be the same between a-body and b-body (or so Im told).

The convertible gasket is shaped different from others from about middle to top of the a-pillar posts. I suppose one might cut and graft 2 gaskets sections together. Use the lower portion and about 3 inches up a-pillar post from the hard top gasket. I've got the piece of a-body reveal molding, the clips, etc... I've laid it on the vert and it looks like it would work fine. The one part I dont have is a good used 68 up hard top gasket. Not sure I'm brave enough to cut my good vert gasket though. Not sure what adhesive I would use to join the rubber either. The type that comes with inner tube patch kit? In the end I would probably discover why the factory never placed a stainless reveal molding there in the first place. Wind noise or other unexpected issue.

If you want to add a little more to ponder take a look a momopars thread on his convertible resto. He used the hartop gasket and installed a modified stainless trim on the bottom
