I'm thinking about changing the color of my interior from black to red. Does anyone have pics of an original red interior for a 1968 Dodge dart that they can share with me? I was wondering is the top of the dask was a matte red or was it black? Pics and advice would be helpful as the restoration is moving along and I need to pick a body color. If I pick black body I want red interior. If I pick red I will already have a blace interior! Thanks, Mark
 
I'm currently changing my '69 Dart interior from tan to red. I have everything in boxes....it's a wine color red that wasn't my favorite, but....I'm 99% sure the dashes were red as well, not black. My problem is that my repro dash pad came black and is urethane and supposedly can't be painted. So....I'm not sure what I'm gonna do....make the top of the dash black (which might look goofy IMO) or look around for an original real dash pad that I can dye red. I'm kinda 50/50 on it right now.

My dart is already painted gloss black!!....and I've always loved black w/red interiors!
 
The top of the dash is the same color as the rest of the interior except it is a matte finish.

I actually believe the whole dash was a matte finish, at least the two 68 Dart dashes I have out in the garage are both matte finish.
 
black body and red interior.. the best choice I think..

I have a 69 white with red interior,Ill post pics when I get home tomarrow.They are on my other computer.

..I think I might be able to help......new "porno red"...thats bright red...dash pad w/steel backing...$285....delivered...no core charge....no problemo!!!
 
Are you copying Denny!!! I like red but just can't stand it when it get a little age on it and it turns pink. I say stick with Black ages much better but I'm a little partial Black.
 
I think the red would be a great color with black exterior...it's the combo I would have done except I've had the black paint before and you really have to stay on top of it to keep it lookin' sharp....and my buddies said if I don't drive this ...they will dissown me...and I'm too lazy to be shinin' all the time

mine are the best....that especially includes HemiMark....we just love to bust each others nuggies!!

So far i'm not sold. The few red interiors for the 68 dart I have seen have burgandy/maroon dash/door/carpet not really red. I know I can get all made red but I was trying to make my Dart into a Dart GTS (original/factory)clone.
