If someone out there has a car with the end-to-end horizontal stripe on it, I'd appreciate if you could take a couple measurements for me. I've attached a reference photo to illustrate the stripe we're speaking of.

We are considering placing them on our '68 Convertible Restomod car that's close to finish the 3yr build, and plan to test the look out with electrical tape next week.

Specifically, from somewhere in the middle of the door near the handle appreciate if someone could measure the:
  • full overall height
  • width of the outline element
  • width of the larger inner element
  • gap between the outline and inner elements where the paint is revealed

My car has one of those stripes. In fact, I put it on. After I did a complete restoration on it; doing ALL the work myself. There is only one stripe to use. Buy the one from Phoenix Graphics. There are cheaper ones, but do not buy them.
To be honest, I am not sure I understand the request. It appears you are asking for the dimensions of the stripe itself. Is that correct? I would think you would be more interested in measurements that would help you place it properly. I took measurements from an original car at a car show, so mine is as close to perfect as possible. I would be happy to give you those measurements.
That being said, I can give you the measurements you asked for, but just buy the stripe from Phoenix Graphics. It will bean exact replica of the original, and you won't have to worry. @PhoenixGraphix is a member here. They can attest that their stripes are a perfect match.

@harrisonm Thanks for the note and thoughts. Yes I am looking for the stripe measurements so we can mock it up on the car with electrical tape as a visual test. That said, if you have the placement measurements, I'd love those too, given that if we went forward with purchasing and installing them we'd have likely eyeballed the first one and taken those measurements for the other side.

Pertaining to your Phoenix Graphix comments, I'm interested/curious. My assumption is that the US-based vendors all use the same source materials from 3M or someone like that (e.g. they don't manufacture the stuff themselves and are esstenially a service bureau designing and cutting the patterns with OEM vinyl).

To date, I have spoken with another vendor for this, which is not the full story ... We are considering modifying the original stripe dimensions for this restomod. My hunch is that the original dimensions are slightly too retro for our car, which is why we're looking for the dimensions to test it out. I feel we may skinny the outline and inner elements about 10-20% to attain a more contemporary outcome. I had to twist the arm of the vendor we are talking to a bit to get him to agree letting me work with their graphic designer. That will not happen until later this month. Not sure if Phoenix Grphics would accomodate this, if needed. Do you think they would?

OK, here are your pictures. The horizontal pieces of yellow tape on each picture are at the exact middle of either the top body line curve on the rear or front fender or the body line in the door. I started at the back. If you have any questions, shoot me a personal message. From the very back to the front where it starts taping, the stripe is exactly the same width. Five more pictures on the next post.

I did my stripes as well after an exhausting search for the correct measurements. Harrisonm has done all the heavy lifting for you. Well done sir.

All Graphic manufacturers are not the same. We use Automotive cast grade vinyls which are much more expensive. You may be receiving a lower grade of vinyl if the product is much cheaper than PGI All vinyl manufacturers make many levels of viny, including a much lower quality vinyl "calendered "sign shop" level vinyl. That is why you see a large price difference. If it is not "Cast it will not last". We can't even produce product for what many people are offering on Ebay and Amazon.

Phoenix Graphix established in 1985 and is a family owned business with employees who have been with us over 25 years. We pick up our phones and offer personal service 1-800-941-4550.

Hi PGI @PhoenixGraphix ... If you read the thread above, you'll see the full context of my inquiry in the original post. We "might" want to have that side stripe uniformly modified in thickness/height somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-25%, keeping the length the same. @harrisonm has been gracious in pointing me to you and even more so in providing the OEM stripe measurements and placements (many thx!). I will be using electrical tape down our sides on Wednesday to assess if we feel the need to make a "scale" modification to the stripe to achieve the slightly more modern aesthetic we're trying to achieve overall on this build that's close to completion (this being one of the last steps). If PGI is open to accommodating this let me know, as I realize it is anon-standard request.
