69 r4 dart resto

Wow, this car is gonna look great when done! It's nice seeing paint all on the inside, even if it gets covered. It just makes it that much better of a restoration when complete.

It almost looks hemi orange in those pics.

Been a few weeks but making some progress every week.
Picked up new front fenders, windsheild & splash guards the other week.
Painted bottom of the dart, inner fenders & engine compartment.
I will be putting the body away for a while now & on to clean up of
the doors & trunk lid.
Pictures don't really show how nice the paint looks but it really shines.

Just another update:
Test fitted the new fenders & old doors.
Looks like I can make this all work out OK.
Put the body away for now & on to the trunk deck lid.

Bought this trunk deck locally for $45.00.
Stripped about 10 layers of paint from the outside surface.
Had to fill holes where a GT panel was probably mounted.
Looked like someone had punched the lock out at some point
so I cut a patch out of my deck and welded into this one.
One small patch inside rear left corner.
Should be ready for first shot of epoxy primer now.

Been a while, so I thought I should update.
I spent a lot of time on the deck lid but finally got the paint to lay down
on the inside.
I have been working on stripping a hood that I picked up earlier this winter.
Maybe should have bought a re-pop hood but to late now.
Saved a few hundred dollars but found a few rough spots so will have to live
with now.
Hope the winter lets up soon so I can get back at the Dart.

Great work, nice to see some updates, I've missed the last few. I'd love to see a mopar clear coated over bare steel, I think it looks so cool.

Just thought I should chirp in with some updates on the old dart.
Things seem to take a lot longer than I was planning on.
Summers here in the north and enjoying some time on the water etc.
I have been plugging away on the car two nights a week and so I thought I should
add a few pictures.
Drivers side door was stripped down, primed & painted on the inside.
Passenger side door stripped now & getting close to primer stage.
Hood was primed and painted on the underside.
So on we go!

Muskoka Dart . Impressive job on your resto . First time i have seen your work and it sure is top shelf . Do i see a CBX or two in your avatar photo. Almost bought one it 81 but bought a 900F Super Sport instead. Have a great day and safe riding . Bob

So you still ride those bad boys. That's awesome . I never liked that 900 only rode it one season and dealt it on a 82 Goldwing it was a stellar bike rode it like i stole it for 13 years had 135000 kms on it and would still have it but it was totaled in June 95 . The next day i picked up a 83 Aspencade and rode it for two years and then went to the dark side and bought a 87 Harley Electra-glide Classic in 97 rode it 10 years accumulated around 90000 KMS and all and all it was a good bike , my daughter graduated college in 06 and i traded a tuition payment for a bike payment and ordered a 07 Electra-glide Ultra it has also been a great bike over 78000 KMS on it and only tires and brakes, i find the 96 cid twin cam eats tires compared to the old 80 cid EVO .Enough about me , do you tour , day trips or just ride it when you get a chance. You seem to be quite busy so it must be hard to find time for the Dart and getting out on your bike . Sorry to drone on , so take care and if you can find the time tell me of other bikes you have or had . Later Bob

Thanks for the kind words to all.
Have been busy hunting and dealing with winter lately but will be dragging the car
into the shop this evening to install front fenders for fit check.
Will post some pictures shortly.

A few new pictures of the slow progress.
splash shields, new seals, fenders primed and painted inside fenders back in place
and it all fits!!!!
On to some line adjustments and blending now.
