Recently, while changing out the headers, I had to pry the tie rods loose and damaged the rubber busing. I’ve checked local sources with no luck. Is there someone who just sells the rubber goods and not the complete tie rod just to get the rubber products?

Thx.

Thank you. I used a pickle fork! The local frame and alignment boss had another suggestion which did not involve the pickle fork. He mention hitting the tapered pin instead.

You can get a small press to do the job. It looks like a puller, and hooks onto the drag link and lower ball joint arm. Turn the bolt and it presses the tie rod stud out. You can also smack those parts with a hammer to break them loose too. You need to keep the nut on the threads to keep from damaging them, spray with some penetrating oil, and them hit the side of the drag link and/or lower ball joint arm right next to where the tie rod stud goes through. They should just pop loose. It may leave some hammer marks though, so, if this is a show car, use the press.

Pickle forks suck, they do have a place when the old tie rods are going in the trash…
