I have a 70 duster that had a factory slant 6 , with drums up front. I plan on big block swapping the car and need to get discs breaks up front. I found a guy with 73 duster spindles an calibers and also the proportion valve... is this a direct bolt on fit or will I need to change any of my factory setup? if so any suggestions or part numbers would be helpful. side note I have been reading that I may need the 73 and up upper control arms because the shaft is a different size ??? thanks Justin

I am not a expert but you will need the upper control arms from a 73-later car as they have larger ball joints once you get that then it is pretty much bolt in but I think you need new lower ball joints to if I am not mistaken.

Mr Green for the win!
You wil also need new hoses which may not quite fit the frame brackets, but are easily modded.
What about rotors, and splash shields?
The m/c wil need to be modded or swapped out.
The rear brakes will need to be up-sized to 10 inchers.
Consider a booster

Do yourself a favor down the road. Swap the spindles side for side so you can mount the calipers on the rear. You will need longer Volare hoses.

What this allows is a certain amount of latitude on sway bar interferance, especially if you go with some big aftermarket one down the road.

hey thanks guys! im current trying to find caliper bolts for the left side as those where missing thinking about going to Lowes and finding some close matches. im gonna need to switch to new hoses anyway so the switching sides is an idea. so my list goes as followed new upper control arms 73 and up, new lower ball joints 73 and up,caliper bolts, already have new rotors and bearing set and oil seals, going to get a rebuild kit for the calipers, new hoses , new break lines, I have a low pro booster from a c body I may try an fit, paint them ect ..... only other trouble im having is finding new dust shields and the foam gasket that sits between the dust shield and the spindle any sources on that and the bolts I spoke of above? the advance and autozone in my area have pretty much nothing I needed , I lucked up and went to napa and they had the rotors and bearings but like I said no dust shield or gasket

thanks

Don't rebuild the calipers. Buy them right from the parts store. I got mine at NAPA they are very reasonable. The thing is, you get rebuilt calipers, they are guaranteed. You buy kits and they leak, now what?

make certain you bet the bleeders at the very top of the calipers

I did not put dust shields on mine. This is not going to be a very high mileage driver, and very few if any dirt / gravel roads.

I assume that the upper late control arms are also needed in this swap to keep the front suspension geometry correct. I saw a CL ad for a '70 Dart with the later brekes but with the front wheel with a LOT of positive camber on each side, and I figured they did not change the UCA's; maybe someone can confirm or deny that?
