I just tried to put my hood back on and snapped the little slider off inside my hood . It’s for adjustment ?I just broken mine . Do they sell new inserts ? Any have a hood for sale ?
I can’t unless they sell this nut insert thing that slides back and forth for hood adjustment . Do you know that is called ?Nope and those hoods 70-72 in good shape are unobtainable...you can repair yours..
Scroll down page 1 of this forum. You will see sale and wanted threads with highlighted boxes. That's the way we do it here. You will need to start a wanted thread for the parts you need as soon as you figure out what you need.I just tried to put my hood back on and snapped the little slider off inside my hood . I did that . This is about questions on if or how to replace the internal slider nuts thing , or even what that part is calledScroll down page 1 of this forum. OK You are good then. May be a few photos would help.I did that . This is about questions on if or how to replace the internal slider nuts thing , or even what that part is called
All these cars have them . Shocked know one know what it’s called or if they sell new onesOK You are good then. May be a few photos would help.
Whatever, good luck! All these cars have them . Shocked know one know what it’s called or if they sell new ones
Not picking up what I’m saying I guess . Inside of the hood there is are two nuts mounted to a bar that runs on a track that slides back and forth. That bar and just broke on both sides . We don’t know what that bar is called let along we can get a new one to cut out and replace and weld in new one. I do know they only did this slider style nuts until 72 . So my options for parts cars are limited as is a whole hoodJust remove whatever you broke and weld it back together and reinstall it
No I get exactly what you’re saying. Not picking up what I’m saying I guess . Inside of the hood there is are two nuts mounted to a bar that runs on a track that slides back and forth. One is I don’t know what they are or like like considering they are destroyed and inside of the hood . I’m trying to see what they are even called and trying to see if anyone makes them. Getting them out and copying them may be huge task . I’m not sure if they’ll even come out if I cut up the hood . They seem to run on a track but I don’t knowNo I get exactly what you’re saying.
If you can cut the hood open to replace them, why can’t you cut the hood open to repair them? It’s literally just a piece of metal with threaded holes.
Are there any slots or holes in the reinforcement ribs?
Post some photos of what you have.
IIRC older cars had fixed nuts and slots in the hinge and newer ones had adjustible nuts as you describe and a single hole in the hinge.
I realize these solutions . My question is what is those sliding nuts called ? And can I buy them ?I think we all understand what you are saying. We are all trying offer up solutions. But you dont seem to want to accept the solutions.
If there are no access holes you will have to create some.
Or
You can enlarge the bolt holes, and weld in some nuts. Then put slots into the hinges for alignment
