OK, SO, IT MAY LOOK LIKE I HAVE NOT DONE ALOT TO IT, BUT IT IS TAKEN ME FOREVER TO FIX UP THESE QUARTER SKINS!.
DO NOT USE THE CHEAP SKINS. YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING THE FULL QUARTER REPLACEMENT, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. UNLESS YOU ARE A PRO OF COURSE.LOL
i filled in the old 70-71 stly light hole, and roughed in the quarter, after spot welding all the holes.

yes, it is a harbor freight special. i got it on sale for 129.99 it is usually 229.99, but they had a sale, and then i had a 20 % coupon, wound up being 129.00 it is 220 line. gas or gasless. i have never had a problem welding wioth out the gas. i have welded axles on my car trailer with years of no hassle.

oh, when i bought the welder almost two years ago, i paid 30 for a 2 year warranty, and i exchanged it for a new one like a month ago, cause the wire was not comming out smmothly. i think it was my fault though.(i dropped it off a ladder and it landed on the feed cord)

340plot,
Do you know where the skins were from? I just ordered a pair to repair the "hide it with filler" work that had been done previously on my quarters. What kind of problems did you have? Thanks and keep up the good work. L8r

What a neat car and build story.

I knew it was a late build....
No EGR Temperature Contol Valve hole in firewall.
The change took place on March 15, 1973. The valve was moved to the top tank of the radiator.
340 and 400 4bbls did not have EGR, hence the blank-off plate.

well, i had put first coat of paint on the car today, let it flash for 15 minutes..............
came back out, and all the paint litterally peeled off the car!.. whatever garbage they used to spay it last time, completly wrinkled off the car. needless to say, i got almost the entire car has to be taken down to bare metal. it took me 5 hrs just to do the roof. what a pain. this was with using a primer/sealer too.

so, pics will be up on monday, when i try to shoot it once more!

Dude that sucks. You were blazing along too. I'm going real slow with my 73, like 20 + years - haha! It's almost the same car as yours exc it's W1, and black gut, bench seat 3 spd on floor originally, but always had a 4 spd since 79. Oh and the biggest difference none of the original drive line was with the car.

From one Joe to another - Nice find you got there Brother. Subscribed - before the car is sold . . . what the heck seems like everyone else was busting on you so I couldn't resist. I applaud you for being able to move thru a car quickly, enjoy it a bit and pass it on to some one else to enjoy - then start on another one. Tires me out just typing about it.

Joe Mc

well, i got the car painted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had to sand all paint off the car. i had the body straight as an arrow, but since i had a novice help, he dug into all the bodywork on the passenger sde of the car. so has some flaws. but hey, i was building it as a driver anyway!. here some pics

oh, last two are after third coat and final coat!
