73 Duster build named Fred

No he cut it apart and then gave me a call. He said it was a little tighter than he liked. We talked and he seemed to know what he needed to do. So, hopefully it’s a lot closer to what I need.
I bet it’s good now. Part of the problem with the entire industry is all the guys who are experienced in converters are getting older and not building as much but they’re training others to take over. Not all of them get it right away. But if Paul cut it open and knows what he needs to do, my money is on it being better this time. That’s the one thing I’ve been fortunate with was turbo action converters not needing re stalled after purchase. Every other company I’ve dealt with have all needed re stalled. Hopefully this is your one and only time for the re stall.

That’s the sad fact. The industry is dying on the vine.

Got the converter today. New in the box and they sent me is the 48. So, I assumed they cut mine open when Paul said it was tighter than he liked. However, I believe he made that determination based on all the info I sent him along with the cam card and the cam being installed straight up with no advancing. I think the converter they sent me is a brand new 48. This should would great! I’ll know tomorrow.

Pretty weird if you ask me.
When Bill had the ptc he sent it back because he thought it was too lose, then got a tighter one.
You probably should have seen how that converter worked, but I appreciate you selling it to me.
I wonder if it's going to need to be looked at due to those seals getting tore up ?

We will see today how this one stalls. The PTC flashed to 5500. Hopefully this one is around 5500 now too. Either way it is what it is I will get it sorted out sooner or later. If all goes well track on Wednesday.

Any predictions?

Well if the new cam and converter don’t slow it down, I am hoping for 10:20’s once tuned and dialed in.

But have to learn the car all over. Will need to figure out where it wants to launch, shift points, timing and air fuel.

Ok back from the track. Fred slowed down. The converter is still an issue and it needs a bigger rear gear. Was going through the traps under 6700rpm as my shift light did not come on. It doesn't spin the rpm as fast. This cam power bad is way different than the last cam. Ran consistent 11:00 flat. I will be adding a new gear and will need to purchase a different converter again. This new one flashes lower than the last one, go figure. I am not disappointed. I understand it will take some time getting this combo right. Nothing broke and Fred looked amazing! It will soon be fast and good looking!

Wow, that's quite the slow down. I'm confident you'll get it figured out & holy moly Fred looks great... congratulations!

What was the new converter flashing to?

It’s just semantics, but I look at it as the new cam/converter pairing resulted in a lower stall speed.

Did you happen to notice how much rpm fallback there was after the shift?

Was there more than one cam tried previously?

There was a forward facing scoop before?

Don’t take this the wrong way but…….you checked for full throttle?

Yes I did check full throttle but I will check again and yes there was a forward facing scoop. I will video the TAC tomorrow so you can see the flash
on the converter. No offense taken.

Nice! at least you got to go make some hits. It's not uncommon to lose ET sorting out a new combo, think of it this way, a 1/2 sec is just a blink, that's what I was told from a very good source.
MPH?
