I just bought a 318 out of a dodge truck and was planning on putting it in my slant 6 scamp. would i have to change to a v8 k-member? i was told you could use oil pan out of a dodge van and a special set of headers and it would bolt in but idunno how true that is? any info would b appreciated. thanks

im am doing the same swap on a 73 duster with a 318 truck engine also... so what i learned is i needed to get the schumaucher motor mounts for the slant six k frame i needed a oil pan from a 318 out of a car bigger radiator some hooker headers which is what i got but dougs or tti would be better if you have the money and a small block 904 trans or 727.... the slant six trans starter mount is different on the 904 which is why you need a different trans.

Duster371, the schumaucher mounts are an easy way to do this swap in a spool mount K-frame, if you do not have the later spool mount K-frame, then Trans-Dapt has the kit you want for alot cheaper useing earlier style mounts, the oil pan can be from any car and NOT a 360.

You need a small block trans. 904 or a 727. If you go big block, you'll need a big block trans. (727 only) Starts are swapable. The 904 is lighter and will show quicker time slips.
