74 Duster, resto mod 6.4 conversion in Australia

All the underside of the car has been raptor lined and we also decided to raptor lined inside the trunk up to the floor pan joint. I know some people wouldnt like this but it is hard wearing and will also help keep the road noise down etc. I have another car i did this all to and it made a huge difference yes the exhaust and engine are super loud but everything else whisper quiet. To help with this i will install sound deadener to the floor pan and use a thick underlay with a heat shield in it to stop the floor getting hot from the pipes etc.
We will go satin black from the seam forward inside the cabin as all interior will be black as well. The front chassis rails and around the suspension under inner guards to also go satin black should have all this done by end of the week. Very excited as feel like we are going forward now, as can start bolting all the rear end in, wiring and wet lines etc. The body stage of the job really feels endless at some points

Duster starting to look like a car again....... kind of. The interior of the car has been sprayed satin black up to the floor seam and then becomes raptor liner to be harder wearing etc

The rails etc are all satin black as well that then wrap around into the suspension area thats all satin black. Got some runs but dont care as the suspension will hide it and too busy looking at willwoods and qua1 gear to notice the runs hopefully hahah

Also i have ordered the Firm Feel k frame stiffening kit, as well as the larger adjustable strut rods. I will get the k frame sand blasted and then my fabricator to seam weld and add the stiffening kit in as required. Stiffen the lower arms at the same time and then powder coat the lot.
Looking forward to not spending any money and bolting items on that are sitting in my factory, seeing progress without spending is always nice. Sadly the diff is 8 weeks away as my guy has relocated factories. Annoying as super keen to get the rear end into the car and wheels on, looking somewhat like a car again.
I have been holding off but time to drnag the 6.4 out of the rack and rip all the acesories off, bolt to the k frame and do a test fit. Then the next stage of paint would be painting the bay.

Cool to see the process and direction you’re going with the car. Keep up the good work.

car is looking good , nice work
Thank you very excited to get it going forward again as panel work feels like 2 steps forward one back. Constantly pulling bits off and back on but never permanent. Very excited i can start bolting things on to not come off again. Built quite a few cars and know the slow burn process. I actually love the forum as keeps me accountable by posting progress etc haha. I have purchased another house closer to my factory so that should help with the process as well. As less time traveling more time spinning spanners

Yeah, to do it right takes a lot of repeating. But at the end, you will be very happy that everything is right.

My firm feel gusset kit for the K frame rolled up so next get that blasted and welded up!! Also grabbed a set of the adjustable strengthened strut rods as well, look like a good bit of kit!
Also started cleaning the tank up so i can cut the top out and step it down to run a larger fuel pump set up! I will run a retro fit VE Holden pump that looks to be identical to the camaro pump. Basically the pump sits in a bucket! Ill probably still run the standard in tank fuel reader etc

Few snaps of the car needs a clean inside and out as covered in filler dust etc, body wise all thats left is gapping and then paint. But currently renovating last part of my home to sell as purchased another home closer to factory which means more time for car hopefully. As you can see slowly getting a retro vibe to the area where my car is, the lunch room is also set up like a 50s dinner as well.

not my video, but if you go through the whole thing he does each piece.

Stripped all the accessories and loom off the 6.4, fitted all my conversion bits to it to test fit into the car for clearances.
Everything was super easy to fit and no issues with the fitment.
Just waiting on the k frame to come back from fabricator
