Hello. I am putting together an 8 3/4 for my 66 Barracuda. I have most of the parts needed (Housing, Third Memeber, Axles (SBP), and Shock Plates). I need Backing Plates and Drums (as well as the rest of the brake hardware).

I believe the early A-Bodies came with 10 X 1 3/4 brakes. These, and parts for them, seem hard to come by. What's the issue (if any) in putting 10 X 2 1/2 brakes on these?

Thanks,
David

10X2 1/2" brakes are Large Bolt Pattern. That is what I am using on my '66 Valiant. Not an issue for me since I have already done the LBP disc swap. I suppose if you wanted you could have the drums redrilled for SBP. The axle offset is the same for both. The difference in brake width is made up in the dish of the backing plates.
