Can someone tell me how can I tell if I have a sure grip rear end. Right now if I back up about 15 feet the rear locks both rear wheels, sometimes, and every now and then both wheels will be locked with out backin up 15 feet.
 
OK will a sure grip be locked all the time or just sometime. Sometime when i do a burn out i can leave 2 beautiful lines on the street and then other times just one most of the time just one. Do i have a sure grip thats just wornout or something. Rear came out of what looked to be a 72 to 74 Dart with a locked up 340 which was removed when i went back to get it.
 
Jack up the car so both rear wheels are off the ground. Place the car in neutral and rotate one wheel by hand. If the other wheel rotates the same direction you have a sure-grip. If it rotates the opposite way then you have a single track.
