Do all A-bodies with a V8 use a 90 degree oil fiter setup? Sorry if it is a dumb question. I have only owned one A-body and it has a 225. I am going to swap over to a small block and just need to know if I need the oil filter adapter. By the way, my car is a '73 Dart Sport. Thanks

not all i think the 340 was the only one to have it.Not sure why someone will chime in and feed us as to why.the 90 degree filter is great at changing it when you have headers, without it a little trickey to r&r.

My friend has an all original '69 Dart GT with a 273ci. I was looking it over pretty good yesterday and noticed the 90 degree filter. When I saw that, it got me thinking about my car. I was just wondering if I was going to have to do the same on mine.

My '70 318 Duster has one. I don't think the filter would fit if the adapter wasn't there.

It is a 72,but i do use the short filter (new style)

thought just the 1966 275/273 Dart came with 90^ adapters.. becouse of the factory headers shipped in the trunk.
I could very well be wrong tho.
cheers

In 1972 I bought a '71 340 out of a Demon that had been rolled down an embankment. It had a 90 degree adapter on it.

My 360-Magnum powered '72 Valiant, which has Duster sheetmatal back to the firewall, will work either way. I think it's easier to change filters without the adapter on my TTI header-equipped setup, but when I had cast iron 340 manifolds (early, swept-back design) I think maybe I had to use the adapter. Not sure, but that's how it seems...

I think that with the short filter, most chassis will accept either setup.

73 340 duster did not have one..
70 AARcuda did not have one.

If you run the '68-'70 340 Hi Po manifolds you have to use the 90 degree filter to clear the manifold. All the 340 cars in those years came with the adapter.

Just depends on what exhaust manifolds you have, all 340's have the 90 to clear the Hi Po 340 pass side manifold
