A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

-
when I changed to the new K, I also replaced the original poly bushings motor mounts with rubber ones. the poly bushings I used before my association with Schumacher Creative Services is a poly spring eye bushing and while it worked well, it was harder than I desired. The rubber version is a great substitute for a street (coffee getter) car where a little more dampning of motor vibration is desired.

I give the rubber replacement a thumbs up.....smooooooth

I will contact Schumaker to make the spool portion for this application with their soft poly used in my current HDK mounts

My bud Steve Magnante is working the show at the Chrysler display and has
promised to bring his camera crew to the tent to check it all out. Steve has
authored countless automotive based books and is the Mr. Know-It-All on the
Barrett-Jackson auctions....the guy with the big black horn rimmed glasses.

Is that the same guy that built the Wilshire Shaker street driven AFX car?

Steve Magnante has been a frequent contributor to numerous car magazines such as Mopar Action,
Popular Mechanics, Chrysler Power, Super Chevy, and Hot Rod.

It's great that he will be visiting with some of our members. Here are some of his videos:

I don't think he has that red '67 Hemi Dart any more. He built that at the same
time that Denny was building his green '73 Hemi Duster.

Bad news.....Due to scheduling conflicts, it sounds like Greg Charney may not
make it to the Nat's.

.

Now that is a great lineup!

Yes Mark that will be an outstanding lineup!! Can"t wait till the Nats!!
How's the Cuda runnin? Swapped out my 3:55 gears for 3:23's over the Holiday
and did a test drive to see the Laube Boys on Sat. Much more highway friendly gears!
Have a great time in Penn. Hoosh

everything he remembers!!

And to capably fill the vacancy in the tent please welcome Bill, Dave (Ross's Dad's)
good friend with his awesome Indy headed cross-rammed big block Barracuda.

The intake manifold is a unique shortened Dodge long-ram setup.

If I'm not mistaken, since these photos were taken, Bill has fitted a new set of Billet
Specialties Street Lite wheels.

Bill parked next to Denny and I at last summer's Hemi reunion in Hamilton, Ohio.

Yes, that would be interesting to know. Usually the shorter the runner,
the higher the powerband. Those manifolds in original form were supposed
to be torque monsters, so the trade-off for more RPM probably works.

BUT max rpm was 4600...in the old skool days ;)
BUT they looked COOL as all get out.

Well, Carlisle was great again. As usual we arrived with HemiMark, 62bt409, Tod etc
and went straight to the dealer show Thursday evening. There we met up, as planned,
with Mr & Mrs Tin Cup and spent some quality time with them on and off throughout
the weekend. It was a real treat to see that car in person!

I had sent Steve Magnante information about this gathering an he did not disappoint,
showing up and checking out a lot of the rides and taking many pictures.

At the show Friday and Saturday a lot of FABO members stopped including two separate
groups from Sweden! I wish I could remember the names of all of the people that said
hello but 65 Dodge Dart Charger was one that was notable.

Greg Charney (blue 10.0 Dart) brought some Mopar luminaries by to inspect the Duster
and said he might still make the Nats if he can work around commitments in Mrs Charney's
schedule.

Jim Clark, driver of the Hemi Express Pro-Stock cars of the 70's was on hand with
Chrysler to sign autographs. He stopped and visited for over an hour with some tall
tales indeed as his second career was as a stunt man and railroad train supplier for
major motion pictures (he has been "killed" in the movies over 250 times!).

So, way too much to tell here now but we will be heading home in the morning.
