After timing and tuning my dart I decided to drive to the gas station to fill the tank. I had replaced the sending unit because the other one wouldn’t work. Well the fuel gauge works! However after pumping about 8 gallons in fuel started pouring out of the tank. Upon getting the car home I set about to replace the sending unit gasket. After pulling the tank it was apparent the gasket was not at fault and the doubler has completely detached along the top. This tank was purchased new from Mancini’s in 2010 however it did sit in a garage with about 5 gallons of gas with Colorado temps ranging from -10 to 105. Has anyone seen this happen before?

Not me, Hotter here in the south! Has not been an issue since 2014 rebuild. Only hope you only have the caps on for temp. My garage sits East/West and Afternoon sun bakes the back of the fish sometimes. Assume a Spectra tank!

See if a rad shop is willing to fix it. If it was mine, i would tackle it.

Dry the tank out, nitrogen purge and tack weld it back on.
Btw, dont trust those vacuum caps on there. Gas will swell it up and split it open. Dont ask how I know.

Btw the tank came from YearOne. At $100 I’m just gonna replace it. Hopefully this is an anomaly.
